An award winning software client working in the energy sector have a new opportunity for a Senior Software Developer to join their Edinburgh office on a permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is looking for the next step in their software development career to join a large organisation with large scale, high throughput computing requirements. They use native cloud technologies in unique and untraditional ways blending the usual traditional high–computing approaches with their new and pioneering approach to maximise computing power and the data they can then present to their clients.

The role will join a highly integrated DevOps / R&D team where you will design and implement a wide range of new services across infrastructure, applications, APIs and frameworks. This role will benefit from working on existing IaC and cloud–native approaches whilst also being heavily involved in new computer science research – you will be at the pinnacle of the technologies our client are using and developing which are already industry topping.
The successful Senior Software Developer will have the following technical skills and experience:
Educational background in Computer Science or other related field with proven scientific approach
Demonstrated software and/or systems architecture skills
Demonstrated C++ object–oriented programming experience
Interest in solving large scale distributed computing problems
Fascination with new technologies
Desire to build highly efficient, lasting, and user–friendly systems
Work in a globally distributed team
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
In addition we are very keen on candidates who have experience in Cloud–Native back–end development ideally with knowledge in, for example, the design and development of REST APIs or the building of management tools for OpenStack or Kubernetes
In return the Senior Software Developer will receive a competitive salary and benefits package including pension, life insurance and flexible working. You will be based in Edinburgh City Centre and will be looking for office based work as and when rules allow (though they do offer flexible working).
