Job title – Finance Manager / Management Accountant
Location – remote working initially although moving to 1–2 days a week in Glasgow office. **Therefore candidates need to be able to commute to Glasgow**

Interim with the potential to go permanent for the right person
Duration – 3–4 months initially

The Badenoch + Clark Central Government team are delighted to be partnering with a Public Sector organisation who has close links with Government to recruit for a Finance Manager.

Management Accounting
*Lead on planning, preparation and delivery of month end timetable including review of actuals, period close and forecast.
*Ensure the management accounting function delivers data input and transactional activity required for the finance system to be an accurate, up–to–date record of organisational finance activity.
*Lead on variance analysis in–month and contribute to risks/opportunities tracker
*Oversee journal postings (accruals and prepayments, payroll, capital expenditure and recharges) with appropriate audit trail and backup.

Finance Processes and service delivery
*Maintain control of Chart of Accounts hierarchy (cost centres and account codes) and system entry points (eg journal template).
*Support the integrity and value of the data through understanding transactions, identifying interdependencies and working across corporate services to develop MI and ensure it is coherent.
*Contribute to annual budgeting and planning processes including consolidation; Supply Estimates and Spending Rounds.
*Control budget consolidation and maintain oversight and reconciliation of in–year changes.
*Advise on budget assumptions, workforce costing and compliance requirements within Cabinet Office, HMT and pending rules and explain technical rules accessibly (e.g. interpretations of consolidated budgeting guidance).
*Contribute to the development and refresh of finance policies; rules and training.
Reporting
*Contribute to the production of financial management information / reporting to stakeholders, on a monthly, quarterly, annual and ad–hoc basis to deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and quality. This will require close attention to detail.
*Provide analysis, challenge and insight to strengthen data integrity and facilitate decision making. Report on trends and variances with clear narrative and recommendations.

The essential criteria for this role is:
*CCAB qualified or demonstrably on route to full qualification
*Experience of analysing data and designing MI reports that meet stakeholder needs, provide insight and facilitate decision making
*Track record of delivering within set deadlines and running processes in parallel (eg budget setting alongside month end)
*Experience of reviewing policies, processes or work and providing insightful feedback or leading on improvements
*Experience in developing controls or supporting compliance

*Coaching or line management
*Experience using SUN system
