Description:
A large healthcare organisation is looking to appoint an exciting new opportunity for a Deputy Director of Governance: Knowledge and Learning.
This is an interim post for 3 months initially working in the West Midlands with a mix of on site and remote working. This is a Band 8b–8c dependent upon experience – emphasis on the learning element.
Responsible for leading the development and implementation of the organisation's 'welearn' programme that systematises on how learning is shared.
Main Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee the strategic planning and implementation of the welearn programme ensuring that key milestones are achieved, and the required outcomes met;
The post holder will work with others to identify study programmes around safety and human factors which can form part of research work in the organisation;
Work with senior leaders to deliver a performance and operational plan that supports the welearn programme and provides the necessary assurance;
Analyse learning approaches taken by other organisations and systems, and ensure that the organisation is at the leading edge of approaches;
Ensure there is an improved take up of knowledge and learning by 2023 in the organisation, including significant elements of primary care provision;
Oversee and lead on programmes of work, and projects within the remit of the welearn agenda, ensuring synergy with other organisational priorities and projects;
Working with the Performance and Insight and Governance teams, support the organisation to become smarter at simplifying national datasets and synthesising internal data about the quality of care to identify our improvement opportunity;
Manage risks relating to the welearn programme, ensuring that appropriate mitigations are in place and that risks are escalated as appropriate to the Executive Sponsor;
Establish clarity about how learning will be distilled and prioritised centrally;
Ensure development and delivery of the corporate Clinical Audit Programme, ensuring the organisation meets it Quality Account obligations in relation to participation in national audits;
Responsible for managing the corporate Clinical Effectiveness function, which incorporates the Library and Knowledge management team, in line with Group and Trust requirements.
A successful candidate will have:
Must have senior management experience within the NHS and leading teams;
Experienced within Clinical Governance having a knowledge and expertise in Patient Safety, Risk and Learning;
Ability to take an innovative approach in seeking areas for improvement and positive change;
Understanding of NHS policies and procedures;
Able to delivery Governance agenda within a Healthcare setting.
