Head of Events – London Summary: EG is looking for an experienced and ambitious Head of Events that plans, develops, and oversees world–class events (sponsorship–funded events both physical and virtual, webinars, podcasts, client–advisory boards, client summits, awards ceremonies, trade shows) for internal and external audiences. You are adept in creating innovative events that drive revenue and increase brand awareness, audience engagement, and ultimately help drive the EG business. You are an enthusiastic and supportive manager and bring the talent to get the best out of your team, creating a positive eco–system within which your people can grow. You develop relationships with clients, vendors, your internal peers, and senior management to help create an environment that is consistent with the EG vision, mission and values. You are accountable for delivering events that make a significant impact in the commercial real estate market, drive revenue and support lead generation to sell our data products. This role will report into the chief marketing officer. Responsibilities:

  • Manage a small team of event experts who deliver both physical and virtual events, setting targets and supporting their career development
  • Set priorities for the team to ensure task completion and coordinate work activities with other supervisors
  • Solve problems based on practice, precedent and experience
  • Manage a budget including costs and profit margin for events and additional projects (including contra–deals)
  • Deliver programme production and speaker acquisition for all events
  • Work in partnership with the sales sponsorship, marketing and editorial teams
  • Ensure that events and projects are delivered on time and with precision
  • Build relationships with clients and speakers and understanding their talents and needs
  • Research incredible venues and recommend event sites, investigates, selects and negotiates and coordinates services with vendors, including catering and event support.
  • Take ownership for the organisation of events including exhibitor/visitor sales and marketing, program development, event production and on–site show operations
  • Ensure that events achieve revenue, expenditure and operating profits targets
  • Perform research on the commercial property market, understand government policies, commercial property hot topics and local business plans
  • Develop a conversational understanding of EG data products, EG Radius and EG Propertylink in order to identify key areas for promoting the products within the event schedule
  • Use tact and diplomacy to exchange information, address sensitive issues and lead by example for your team
  • Inspire others. Be a team player with strong people skills and forge great working relationships.
  • Write event procedure documents, proposals, and reports as well as public speaking with a high–level of skill.
