Head of Finance | £65,000 - £80,000 | Leeds
The Opportunity
Interim role initially (with a view to potentially becoming a permanent position) for an agile SME based in West Yorkshire.
You will be the primary finance contact for the business reporting to the Directors. There is a slight ‘clear up and unravel’ to do here – its not an out and out firefight by any means but some areas need a good spring clean– more of a mop and bucket required than an industrial extinguisher!
You will manage a finance team of 4 – they are a capable and diligent function but crying out for some support and guidance. The business has (and is) experienced growth and the MD is seeking someone who can firm up the controls, tighten up the month end processes / timeframes and also enhance the reporting and MI.
You’ll be a hands on finance professional ideally with experience of interim assignments that fit into the bracket of ‘sorting stuff out’….
It’s a professional, well-managed and reasonably cash rich business with a great reputation and an extremely strong pipeline of new contracts.
This is a pivotal role to ensure that the financial reporting is accurate and timely, analysis is streamlined and that the MI / management accounts packs are insightful and credible.
It will be a fun and rewarding assignment for a hands-on and proactive qualified finance professional looking to join a professional SME where they can really make a quick difference.

You will need:
- A track record of supporting businesses in the £10m - £50m turnover bracket to improve their reporting and ensure robust controls are in place.
- Experience of leading / mentoring a small team and examples of bringing out the best in others.
- CIMA / ACCA or ACA completed.
- Excellent Excel skills and ability to rationalize reporting / spreadsheets.
- Ability to communicate financial information to non finance budget holders.
- Able to provide confidence in the numbers and able to bring those numbers to life.
