Title; Senior AWS Cloud Systems Engineer (CSE)
Location; Leicestershire or London (completely remote currently, and partial remote working after apocalypse)
Salary; GBP60–80k
You've always been obsessed with efficiencies.
It's one of the main reasons you got into tech in the first place; GET ROBOTS TO DO STUFF YOU DON'T WANT TO DO!
Coming from a development background, you know what the development lifecycle looks like, the problems you and your teammates have faced, and have had, and implemented, loads of ideas on how to improve the process.
You love doing everything from automating everything, to continuous delivery, to ensuring zero downtime for the platforms you take care of.
Hosting your technical estate in the cloud using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) just makes sense to you, from an efficiency point of view; why spend more money to host things that aren't doing anything for you? Why should anyone have to click through a console to spin up another machine that's fallen over, when your code can run and do it immediately for you?!
You are well–versed in Cloud/ DevOps tech, all with AWS (ideally EC2, ECS, CloudFormation, Networking and Serverless) and surrounding DevOps tools like; Github/ Azure Devops for CI/ CD pipelines, Docker containers, Terraform (if you've not used CloudFormation) and Kubernetes, and you can code/ script with Python/ JavaScript/ Java/ C#/ Go or Bash/ Powershell, knowing about System and Cloud Architecture and know how everything fits together.
You have taken the next step in your career, and have a passed this knowledge forward to some more junior members of your team under your mentorship; you LOVE IT.
Seeing the development and transformation of some of the brightest minds around, because of you and the knowledge you've given them, is something you've got a taste for and want to do more of.
