Chief Executive Officer

We are pleased to share with you our vacancy for the Chief Executive Officer role of Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

Our Trust provides NHS community, mental health, dementia and learning disability services to approximately 450,000 adults and children living in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Most of our services are based in local communities, enabling care to be provided as close as possible to where people live. Our clinical services are organised into localities. Our quality achievements are underpinned by a strong track record of successful service and financial delivery. We have wonderful staff whose drive and commitment is outstanding and unfailing during the most difficult circumstances.

Cornwall is a wonderful place to live and work. It covers over 3,500 square kilometres of beautiful countryside, coastlines, villages, towns and cities. We have a population of more than 545,000. As beautiful as Cornwall is, we face significant challenges: 140,000 of us live with long term conditions, 25% of us are over 65 and the disparity in health outcomes is widening. These challenges provide exciting opportunities for new ways of working to deliver excellent care.

We are looking for a CEO with humility, humanity and courage, who can lead our organisation as we rebuild for a future that supports innovative approaches to prevention and care, despite financial constraints and levels of demand. We actively want to encourage diversity in background and thinking at all levels of the Trust leadership so we truly reflect and understand those adults, children and people with disabilities whose mental and physical health are the priority for us and our partners.

We have included the role description and person profile for your information and would ask any interested candidates to contact our Acting Chair, Margaret Schwartz or our Interim Chief Executive, Dr Matthew Patrick for an informal discussion about the role and the Trust.

Attached to this vacancy is a candidate scenario and key question response form for you to complete as part of your application. These scenarios and key questions have been discussed and agreed by the whole Board.

We require you to submit three items for your completed application:

  • A covering letter
  • Your CV with references
  • Your completed scenario and key question response form

Please email these to to submit for consideration.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an assessment event on the 8th and 9th July 2021 at Trust Headquarters in Bodmin.

Whether you are from an UK ethnic minority or if you live with a disability (visible or not), are open about your faith, religion or belief or about being LGB or T, your application will receive a warm welcome.
