The RHS is a national charity with a mission to inspire everyone to grow, as it is vital to our wellbeing, the environment and the happiness of us all. We are undergoing an exciting period of development, which includes bringing our work with community volunteers, schools and groups to the heart of what we do.
Britain in Bloom and It's Your Neighbourhood are amazing forces of volunteers that use gardening to transform towns, cities and villages across the UK. This role is to work in our Communities' Team, responsible for managing and growing the Bloom and It's Your Neighbourhood programmes.
As more people become interested in gardening for health, wellbeing or environmental reasons, our programmes that have a wonderful heritage need to adapt and support the volunteers who are working in a rapidly changing world.
As Programme Manager, you will be responsible for strengthening and streamlining the existing programmes, as well as identifying and prioritising where the RHS can develop activities in response to an ever–changing landscape.
A strategic thinker, you will be motivated to develop the programmes and improve the reach and positive impact of our activities. Knowing your actions could influence thousands of community gardeners; you will gather programme intelligence and work with experienced stakeholders to build a strong body of evidence upon which decisions can be based.
You will oversee a range of activities that stimulate, support, recognise and celebrate the work of volunteers growing in their communities. As Programme Manager you will be comfortable representing Bloom and the RHS at key events and engagements.
We are looking for someone with confident management skills, a proven ability to develop projects and bring about change, and a strong track record in delivering large scale projects to budget and deadlines.
You will work closely with a range of highly valued partners including Bloom Federation Chairs as well as a range of external agencies. Building strong internal and external relationships will be key to success in this role, and you will have excellent communication skills.
Reporting to the Community Development Manager, you will work as part of a small but highly motivated team of five people. You will be managing two people and overseeing a delivery budget of GBP250,000.
The RHS provides a number of great benefits for employees including:
- Free access to all RHS Gardens, Shows and Libraries
