Our charity is on an incredible journey and this is a hugely exciting time to join our team.
2020 saw the UK come together in an outpouring of love and support for the NHS. As the NHS’ national charity and membership organisation for the NHS’ official charities throughout the UK, NHS Charities Together is the central charity receiving additional funding and support for our National Health Service where and when it needs it most. Thanks to phenomenal public support, our national Covid–19 Appeal has raised more than £150 million to help NHS staff, volunteers and patients through the immediate and long–term effects of coronavirus.
We are now recruiting a new Head of External Affairs to build upon our high–profile success of our 2020 Appeal.
The new Head of External Affairs will be joining NHS Charities Together at an exciting stage of growth and development as we expand our marketing and communications team.
This role will lead on the development and delivery of our new influencing and stakeholder engagement strategy. They will play a pivotal role in liaising with member charities to identify the issues affecting them and to help evaluate and address these issues at national level with NHS and government.
Working closely with the senior team, this role will represent NHS Charities Together with NHS England, Department of Health and Social Care, NHS Trusts and other bodies to address member priorities. The role will be key in ensuring that NHS Charities Together can shape and influence relevant debates, all the while ensuring that the senior team are kept informed of key developments that might impact NHS Charities Together.
The Head of External Affairs will work closely with the membership team to develop and coordinate a stakeholder engagement and management strategy. They will play a key role in raising the profile, credibility and influence of NHS Charities Together with key stakeholders. Line managing a team of one, they will also oversee the development and delivery of the membership communications strategy, ensuring that our member charity communications needs and priorities are identified and fulfilled.
The successful candidate will be an experienced stakeholder engagement, public affairs and communications professional. You will have experience in the development and delivery of influencing and stakeholder engagement strategies, as well as experience working in a politically sensitive environment. You will have a good understanding of the NHS, its structure and the topical issues that are related to healthcare. You will also have experience in delivering communications strategies, ideally within a membership context.
If you are passionate about the health and wellbeing of our nation and believe that, through supporting NHS charities, we can significantly increase the vital support given to our hospitals, community, mental health and ambulance services, we would love to hear from you.
