One of the founding shareholder Directors who is responsible for Group Operations will reach retirement age in 2022 and wishes to reduce his time in the business so we are looking for an Operations Director designate to take over as he starts to step back from the business. The position is envisaged as a long–term appointment to continue to grow the business & strengthen the Board of Directors as the business expands both in the UK and overseas and initially will report to the existing Operations Director. This role is intended to lead to appointment to the Board of Directors within 4–8 months. Working with other Directors will be a key part of this role. The position is based in Oxfordshire and involves travelling regularly to our separate final assembly & warehouse location. Subject to Covid–19 restrictions there will be a requirement for considerable overseas travel particularly to China (3–4 times per year for circa 8–10 days duration per trip) and less regularly Europe, the USA and other countries. After an initial period of understanding the business, working from home for an average of 2–3 days per week may be an option. The Director will be expected to be hands on in terms of the planning and operational management of the team & the business. You will have excellent people and IT skills and good attention to detail.

Responsible for all operational functions including:

  • Purchasing
  • Management of forecasting, stockholding and forward ordering
  • International logistics
  • Installation & UK build on occasions
  • Liaising with overseas OEMs and other key suppliers
  • Forecasting
  • Quality
  • UK storage
  • HR of those working for the operation team
  • Operational IT
  • Health & safety, the environment and other key stakeholder engagements

Responsible for Group Companies:

  • China – all aspects except technical engineering
  • US Company logistics
  • Group – Strategic Planning

The candidate:

The ideal candidate will have considerable successful experience at Director or Senior Management level of general operational & logistics management and will probably have a proven history in the fields of procurement, logistics, warehousing and product final assembly. You will be highly self–motivated & used to operating in the SME sector and ideally have a professional qualification either as a Director or in the Logistics or Operations area.
