An established and progressive manufacturing business based in Sheffield have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Finance Director to help steer the company through an initial period of consolidation before embarking on a projected period of growth. The company were able to ride the storm of the previous 12 months due to some prudent cost cutting and a well controlled balance sheet, and with an increased order book and more optimistic market conditions are now in a position to rebuild back towards the year on year growth they previously experienced.
Despite the more optimistic forecast, the MD and Board are rightly still cautious and because of that they are looking for a FD with at least 10 years experience in a previous FD position – in a business that has gone through a period of change, rebuild or growth – ideally all 3. The retiring incumbent will give a detailed handover, though the emphasis will be on the new FD to bring in a fresh perspective, instigating new and improved processes and efficiencies – with the business prepared to invest to upgrade the current systems.
Cash flow management will be a central focus to the next 12 months, with a hands on approach required from the Finance Director. With a September year end, you will play a key role in setting the budgets and forecasts for the upcoming year and begin to build a relationship with the auditors. You will have a small finance team to support you, with a Finance Manager and a small team of transactional finance to support you.
The business are looking for someone who has previously worked in a sub GBP50 million manufacturing environment. You must be Qualified, and be able to work with an owner manager. A track record in improving profitability is a must, and an interest in system implementation would be helpful. Whilst this will not be a plain sailing role, the opportunity to play a key part in the turnaround and growth of this business is not one to be missed. A competitive salary is on offer, with potential future benefits tied to company performance
