Since 1989, our philosophy has remained the same: employ, develop and retain talented people. Working for RSK is an opportunity to evolve as a professional, to innovate and to make a difference.

Our success is founded on the talent of our employees, so we recognise the importance of personal growth, encouragement and earned rewards. As a company, we want you to share in our achievements and we want to be a conduit for your success.

Due to recent and continuing Group expansion through acquisitions, we are looking to recruit an ambitious individual to lead a new team.

Financial Accounting Manager – Helsby, Cheshire (the Finance team is currently home-working, it is anticipated you will continue to be able to work flexibly)

This is a challenging opportunity where the role holder will be leading a new team at RSK. They will be working alongside (and with) an established team of Finance Analysts, working closely with Finance Business Partners and Accounts staff both centrally and within acquired companies not accounted for centrally, as well as liaising with our external auditors. The responsibilities of this new team as a whole will be:
  • Production of ‘Audit Packs’ for our external auditors, for over 100 companies
  • Bringing the production of our statutory accounts in-house, and managing the production of them during the audit
  • Responding to audit queries during the audit, which will involve a combination of:
    • getting the information from in-house systems
    • requesting the information from acquisitions not yet on our systems
    • liaising with Project Managers to get the information
    • making judgments on estimates / policies as applicable
  • Processing audit adjustments through audit packs
  • Dealing with the complex consolidation of over 100 companies, including acquisitions, minority interests, etc.
  • Producing statutory accounts
  • Processing adjustments through our accounts systems
  • The team will lead the budgeting process at RSK which will involve a combination of:
    • pre-populating and issuing budget spreadsheet packs
    • reviewing and challenging budget submission
    • consolidating the budget packs to produce the Group budget
The key requirements of the Financial Accounting Manager themselves will include:
  • Managing the audit / auditors to drive down the current timescale of the audit.
  • Ensuring our acquisitions are in a position to meet the audit timescales.
  • Leading the process of bringing statutory accounts production in-house, and ensuring the team have the capability to produce them to a high standard.
  • Proactively deciding on necessary disclosures and presentations in the statutory accounts, and implementing systems to obtain the information where they aren’t currently in place.
  • Driving improvements in the Statutory Accounts.
  • Liaison with our auditors, and challenging their comments and requests where necessary.
  • Keeping up to date with accounting regulations, and driving changes to RSK accounting policies where necessary.
As this is a small team, the Financial Accounting Manager will also have to be happy to be involved ‘hands-on’ with the work of the team as well.

Desired Experience

We would expect the successful candidate to hold a Chartered Accountancy qualification (ACA, CIMA or ACCA) and have extensive prior experience of Audit and Statutory Accounts. The nature of the role demands candidates who are self-driven and confident with change and challenge.

  • Using accounts production software.
  • Large groups / consolidations.
  • Managing wide workloads to tight deadlines.
