TECHNICAL & QUALITY DIRECTOR – Derbyshire, Permanent

EMBS Engineering is currently working in partnership with a well established, advanced manufacturing engineering business located in Derbyshire.

The client offers a "one stop shop", single source service to world–leading customers across various industries including Aerospace, Power & Nuclear industries to name a few.

Currently, the business offers both machining & fabrication capabilities therefore successful candidates will ideally have knowledge of these but machining knowledge is essential.

This is a pivotal role within the business and will play an integral part of their growth plans, where they look to grow 50%+ in the next 3 – 4 years.

The main purpose of this role will be to provide overall responsibility in leading the engineering and quality functions of the business, ensuring conformance of product, compliance with applicable regulatory and customer–specific standards and continual improvement of business performance is achieved.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

Maintain approvals across industry standard certifications (including; AS9100, ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001, NADCAP, BS EN ISO 3834, BS EN 1090)
Maintain approvals across customer base, including; Rolls–Royce Aerospace, Rolls–Royce Submarines, Babcock, Siemens
Provide leadership, mentoring and support to the Quality and Engineering teams
Work cross functionally with the wider team to ensure quality, cost and delivery targets are achieved
Control of New Product Introduction and Projects to ensure that;

All customer requirements are understood and executed as required
All the necessary fixturing, tooling, CNC programming and supporting documentation is completed to support production
Project milestones are completed on time and to budget

Ensure the contract review process is followed for all new orders and projects
Compile, monitor and evaluate cost performance on projects and individual parts
Work as part of the senior leadership team to drive business performance improvements
Identify and lead continuous improvement activities across the business
Ensure resource levels within the engineering and quality team are sufficient to meet business demand
Engage with customers on both contract specific and higher level business reviews
Maintain, monitor and report on business KPI's

Successful applicants MUST be able to demonstrate:

Vast senior management experience within a precision engineering environment
Strong engineering / advanced manufacturing background, ideally working in an environment where you have supplied medium sized precision engineering components to high profile industries
Knowledge / working exposure to Quality
Sound understanding of machining and all associated processes, including multi axis machining (up to 5 axis)
CAD CAM knowledge – Siemens / Unigraphics NX is preferable but not essential
NPI experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation.
Experience of working within a low volume, high value, projects based business
Ability to identify, analyse and present complex data
In depth knowledge of ERP systems
Knowledgeable of industry best practice across new product introduction and quality systems.
