The Head of Operstions will optimise operational efficiency across the business, ensures practices and operations remain within risk appetite and supports the growth of the business by ensuring there is the right resource and technology available to support growth.

Leading a team of 30+ the Head of Operations is the owner, leader and driver of all operations–related activity and business projects. The role leads the strategic development, implementation and management of processes with a focus on driving continuous improvement, reduce costs and improve overall consistency and effectiveness of the consumer services offered.

The role involves building strong key relationships across the business including IT, Finance, Compliance and Risk, HR, and other legal areas in order to ensure both buy–in of projects, cost and timelines, and also to ensure that any projects or improvements meet the wider business needs and share best practice across business areas. An important component of this is to ensure that operations and activities are carried out within acceptable level of risks.

Key achievables will inclue:

Maximise service and end to end process efficiency, driving annualised cost savings
Responsible for identifying all the technology needs of the division and finding the most efficient solutions. Ensure the necessary technology platform is available to sign up customers, and manage cases to conclusion
Work alongside the Management Team to lead strategic development.
Constantly identify key improvements in the unit to ensure that work is carried out consistently in a disciplined, repeatable, scalable and timely manner
Ensure that marketing is providing the necessary support and insight to maximise customer sign up and retention
Help recruit and build and a high performing team.
Maintain strong relationships with other business areas to ensure alignment of purpose and sharing of best practice
Be the primary driver of continuous improvement to continue to meet and exceed customer expectations of the service offering
Provide the correct platform for colleagues to innovate and propose new ways of working to improve customer outcomes
Oversee and manage the use of business information to drive higher levels of performance and understand gaps in attainment
Manage a robust method of knowledge sharing to ensure that best practice can be used to build and maintain consistency and standardisation across practice areas
Innovating to maximise the ability to sign up customers on marketing campaigns
Creating improvements in process flows and the ability to standardised services
Influencing New Client Services to provide the requisite quality of service; and IT to deliver the required tech platform
Managing tight timeframes with numerous complex projects active at any time, and delivering projects on time and within agreed budgets

The ideal person will have:

Proven track record in leading business transformation and process optimisation within the legal industry
Experience of delivering, working with technology and of maximising the use of technology within the legal industry
Understanding of marketing, preferably in the context of provision of legal services
Experience in managing complex projects from start to finish in a fast paced, remote business environment
In–depth knowledge of Legal services
Ability to partner with multiple stakeholders across the business and externally
Experience of managing people
Influencing skills in order to push and normalise changing ways of working and building teams
Ability to quickly understand complex systems and develop ways of improving digital platforms
Understanding of risk within a regulated environment and experience of risk management
