Cobham Mission Systems have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Avionics Systems Engineer.
The purpose of the role is to drive Avionic/Electronic Systems Engineering work packages associated with the integration of avionic equipment into Weapons Carriage and Release platforms for fast jets, rotorcrafts and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV's).
Cobham's Air–to–ground and Air–to–Air weapons carriage and release systems are available for single or multiple weapons carriage applications in a range of configurations to suit all customer needs
This role is based from Wimborne, Dorset.
We are able to offer flexible working arrangements, such as some remote working with attendance on site on an agreed basis as required.
We can also offer a relocation support package for the right individual (will depend on personal circumstances)
As a Principal Avionics Systems Engineer, your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
* Minimum BEng in Electronic / Avionic Engineering
* Extensive experience in Systems Engineering within an Aerospace or Military environment
* Familiar with avionic standards (MIL–STD–1553, ARINC429, CAN)
* Experience working to recognised standards e.g. DO–160, DO–254
* Ideally have experience of a full product life cycle
* Strong communication skills
* Appreciation of the wider picture from a commercial and customer perspective along with strong communications, drive, team working, problem solving and organisational skills
As a Principal Avionics Systems Engineer, your main responsibilities will involve:
* Manage all aspects of the Systems Integration activities for avionic equipment through their life cycle, from early development stage to in–service support including obsolescence management
* Prepare technical estimates for non–recurring costs and manpower requirements
* Coordinate cross functional teams, technical management of specialists such as design, performance and ILS engineers
* Technical management of external suppliers and outsource providers
* Liaison with customers, internal and external
* Requirements capture, allocation, derivation, validation and verification
* Interface definition and management
* System, sub–system and equipment architecture definition, design and analysis
* Preparation of technical specification and other project documentation
* Preparation and presentation of technical design reviews
* Report progress to the program management and other business entities
