Our client is one of the largest operators in their field having undergone considerable growth regardless of the recent pandemic.
As part of their continued investment in development we are excited to be supporting them in the appointment of a new Head of Business Development to join this newly established arm of the business focused on digital development to meet the needs of their partners and customers, combining intelligent software, with in–car devices and human expertise to help their clients Manage, Connect and Protect their vehicles.
Their service portfolio combines the best diary booking system for fleet, demonstrator and courtesy cars with in–car cameras, telemetry and tracking devices with some exciting new products soon to be announced.
The role:

To lead the Business Development team operating throughout the UK, providing structure and strategy to their daily proactive actions. You will also be responsible for working with marketing to assist with the creation and implementation of marketing strategies and also to collaborate with the wider business sales force to drive and achieve sales.

Key Accountability:

Utilising your own skills and resource as well as that of the Business Development team, you will be responsible for identifying opportunities both in existing and new markets, then building key relationships with stakeholders and nurturing these prospects through the sales process into sustainable partners and customers.

Become an engaged and inclusive member of the senior management team, influencing strategy and product development and implementation.

To aid achieve/exceed individual targets and contribute towards team targets and business goals. Effectively lead, manage, coach, and motivate a team of Business Development Managers.

Perform monthly one to one objective meetings and performance reviews with each direct report, providing coaching and support whilst identifying and setting monthly objectives and any remedial action as required. Liaise with Marketing team to agree strategic incentives to maximise sales and drive business.

Building internal relationships and identifying sales opportunities across all sales channels within our clients wider Group.

Person Specification

Demonstrable field–based business development, marketing experience at Manager level, ideally within either; telematics, fleet, automotive and/or insurance.

Demonstrable track record of achieving sales targets and successfully managing the variance and effectively driving performance.

Experience of designing and successfully implementing business development strategies. Effective time management – ensuring sufficient time spent with direct reports and stakeholders.

Be able to demonstrate a high level of proficiency in handling performance issues including, absence management, disciplinary and capabilities. Clear, concise, and confident verbal and written communication skills aiding the ability to forge effective relationships at all levels both internally and externally.

Confident and assertive leader, able to manage through a team and resolve conflict. Effective listening skills, perceptive with a developed level of emotional intelligence and awareness.

Be able to demonstrate coaching and mentoring skills – managing through others.

Understanding of marketing and the ability to work within financial budgets.

Competent with using (MS Office) MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point, with demonstrable data and MI skills giving the ability to understand and analyse sales performance metrics.

Willingness to travel – high level of visibility/availability required for interacting with key stakeholders.
