Senior Business Analyst

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Take responsibility for analysis of stakeholder objectives and conduct investigative work to determine business requirements according to the task's complexity, stakeholder's communication style and needs
  • Through detailed analysis of business requirements, current processes and data and suggest improvements in business practices and procedures and specify new processes where needed
  • Prepare business cases which define potential benefits and recommend options for achieving these benefits
  • Determine interdependencies between tasks and present recommendations for review and decisions
  • Facilitate the resolution of issues and / or areas of contention between stakeholders
  • Contribute to selection of the business analysis methods, tools and techniques for projects, selecting appropriately from predictive (plan–driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches
  • Translate business requirements into functional and non–functional requirements for technical teams as per agreed methodologies and frameworks
  • Identify risks and take appropriate actions when risks require escalations
  • Work collaboratively with the project teams and provide regular updates to stakeholders, keeping them abreast on progress of tasks
  • Complete pre and post implementation check lists and reviews
  • Provide solution options for operational issues based on the knowledge of various business requirements and processes
  • Facilitate resolution of operational issues and provide communication to various stakeholders regarding causes and remedial actions taken
  • Highlight lessons learnt from previous projects and recommend and drive improvements based on insights for future projects
  • Contribute to the maturing and adoption of new practices within the BA team to improve the operating environment
  • Role model behaviours and mentor and develop other Business Analysts in the team
  • Stay abreast of the new developments in the wider industry and discipline of Business Analysis and share learnings with the team

Knowledge & Skills:

  • A minimum of 8 – 10 years' experience performing a Business Analyst role, with 3+ years in a lead or senior analyst role having lead and managed other Business Analysts
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office suite and Teams, with highly developed skills in Visio and User Interface design tools
  • Domain knowledge of Insurance is a must; Life Insurance is highly desirable
  • A proven track record of having lead the Business Analysis activities including development of the BA approach, gathering and documenting of business requirements in accordance with template/s and guidelines, ensuring requirement traceability and end user preparedness
  • Knowledge of technology architecture, web technologies and software development life cycle
  • Demonstrable experience of having worked on projects of high levels of complexity, using various project management methodologies
  • Experience of working with Technology teams with proven ability to translate business requirements and outcomes into UI Designs, functional and non–functional specs
  • Experience of having worked in an in–house software development team desirable
