Senior Business Analyst – Insurance/Finance/ Banking

Job purpose

Responsible for shaping ideas into business requirements and recommending tangible solutions which deliver value to our stakeholders across the organisation. To own and give assurance that the changes to be delivered (either in–house or via 3rd party suppliers) are of acceptable standards and meet the needs of our business

Main responsibilities:

  • Leading Business Analysis work stream for significant and strategic projects or programmes who's individual value ranging from medium to large scale
  • Projects involving multiple business units and multiple customers globally
  • Projects with moderate to high level of risks
  • Projects with intermediate to high breadth and sensitivity of stakeholders
  • Shaping – ability to take nebulous concepts and form into tangible deliverables
  • Gather business requirements (both functional and non–functional) to ensure that the full business and IT impact has been thought through
  • Ability to filter out 'non–value add' ideas
  • To explore solution(s) to the customer's requirements and to recommend the best approach
  • Form effective working relations across different sets of stakeholders
  • Promote adoption of the target processes and procedures
  • Provide advice and guidance on functional interdependencies identified during requirements analysis
  • Perform an internal assurance role to review the requirements, design and other business analysis documentation
  • Capture identified risks or issues
  • To assist the customer in the adoption of the resulting solution, to ensure that the customers gain maximum benefit from the implementation
  • To be an influential member of the project team in determining the most suitable solution to a customer's opportunity
  • To peer–review the work of other business analysts and other project team members upon request
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to peers and other analysts within the team
  • Conduct process re–engineering through effective engagement with the business

What we are looking for:

  • Strong insurance / financial service industry background, preferably in the Lloyd's market
  • Minimum 5 years to 15 years of business analysis experience
  • Knowledge of core insurance processes will be an advantage
  • Knowledge of financial systems such as Oracle or Coda
  • Should have been part of projects ranging from medium to large scale
  • Experience of working with technical architects
  • Experience of working on Agile projects
  • Experience with outsourcing and /or external third–party suppliers/partners
  • Understanding of business process reengineering
  • Ability to multitask and to work tasks without daily supervisor interaction
  • Projects delivery is global, hence some element of travel across offices will be required

  • Competency framework development based upon requirements from operational processes / roles
