We are looking for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer at Leonardo in Edinburgh.
Leonardo is a global leader in defence electronics and delivers mission critical systems for situational awareness, electronic warfare and surveillance across land, sea and air. The Radar and Advanced Targeting line of business, based in Edinburgh, is uniquely positioned as one of the world's top manufacturers of radars, lasers and infra–red countermeasure systems.
As a Senior Systems Engineer you will join an engineering team developing and supporting leading–edge (electro optics) EO Technologies and will be involved in all aspects systems engineering, principally working with the Algorithm Development team in Edinburgh to define, develop and test detection, classification and situational awareness algorithm methods, primarily within MATLAB, for future EO Infra–Red sensor systems.
In this role you will be offered significant breadth across all aspects of systems engineering and the opportunity to join the team at a very exciting time as the project moves through the early development phases of the lifecycle.

You will be working with the Algorithm Development team in Edinburgh to define, develop and test detection, classification and situational awareness algorithm methods, primarily within MATLAB, for future EOIR sensor systems. This will require you to:
Assess potential methods to employ within the algorithms
Create and test algorithms within MATLAB and Simulink
Integrate created algorithms with software/firmware teams
You will have excellent problem–solving, analytical and interpersonal skills.
You will have excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.
You will be self–motivated, with a desire to learn new technologies and continuously refine your craft.
You will have the ability to work across a number of engineering disciplines to develop the system solution.
Adherence to Leonardo's Engineering lifecycle governance i.e. design reviews, phase reviews.
You will have the ability to prioritise your own workloads.
You will be able to work independently within the IPT.
Proficient in use of Matlab.
The following would also be desirable but not essential:
Experience of requirements management, particularly DOORS.
