My client owns and runs a successful, growing, entrepreneurial and forward-thinking business with a UK Head Office in West London and production and distribution facilities around the UK and internationally. The Directors now wish to appoint a UK qualified Finance Director to play a key role in the development of the business.
The Finance Director will assume financial responsibility for the organisation and lead a finance department to deliver stakeholder value. As a member of the Executive team you will work with the owners and be responsible for financial planning, financial performance, management and reporting. You will also work closely with members of the Senior Management Team to compile budgets and provide insight to support the wider business.
You will have empathy with the owner managed business environment where your basic grasp of ‘the numbers’ is as important as any strategic vision you may hold. You will work closely with non-finance colleagues to challenge and reduce overhead costs and increase profitability while ensuring efficient and automated financial systems, processes and frameworks improve day-to-day finance operations. As a partner to the business, the role will create a new level of financial reporting which will ensure the timely and accurate delivery of financial and management information across the business.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining effective relationships with the full spectrum of third party professional advisers on behalf of the company and you will work with them to grow and develop this business. You will take responsibility for maintaining the risk/reward balance of deals and be integral in the due diligence and business integration process. This role is therefore concerned both with the running of an effective, finance and accounting function and more strategic financial matters.
You will be a qualified accountant and finance leader with entrepreneurial flair You will show evidence of successful career progression ideally in the FMCG, Food, Retail or a related market. You will be confident in your ability to lead from the front and able to bring people with you on the journey. You will have a real understanding of the role of finance in supporting the growth and development of a truly entrepreneurial business. This is an exciting and truly commercial role, right at the heart of a major UK company and you will be expected to make a difference.
The Finance Director will be based at the company headquarters in West London and can expect to undertake some UK and occasional international travel, particularly when appraising new development opportunities for the business.
