Senior Legal Counsel - Commercial

Job Title: Senior Legal Counsel
Location: Leeds
Salary: Up to £80k (Negotiable DOE)
Working Pattern: Full working from home currently but with some office presence required Post Covid, although working from home will be regular as well.

Douglas Scott are working with an industry leading IT/Technology business based in Leeds as they look to grow their in-house legal offering with the addition of a what will effectively be their Sole Legal Counsel for the UK & Ireland business unit, working as part of a wider global team. As a senior member of the team, you'll report directly into the Global Legal Director but be given the autonomy to lead on the UK & Ireland legal function, working closely with the senior directors within the business.

As the successful candidate, you'll be responsible for the following:

• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial contract agreements for the business.
• Working with a wide range of clients from private sector SME's through to multinational groups and public sector bodies on various tenders.
• Regulatory horizon scanning and expertise provided on matters which the business needs to address (i.e. GDPR, Modern Slavery etc...)
• Liaising with stakeholders across various business functions, such as Marketing, Sales, Finance & Compliance etc...
• Work on wider corporate governance matters for the business

The ideal candidate will have/be:

• 7 PQE upwards (although lesser experience will be considered for the right person) in a commercial practice area
• Candidates from both Private Practice and In-house backgrounds will be considered but ideally, you will have some experience/exposure to advising businesses in the IT/technology sector
• Comfortable operating at a senior stakeholder level and displaying commerciality to facilitate business growth
