Leonardo has a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Operational Analysis team on a permanent basis, working within the Major Air Programmes business area at our modern and purpose–built Luton (Capability Green) site.

As an established Senior Systems Engineer, the successful applicant will generate threat–focussed Operational Analysis within an airborne environment, with a particular focus on fast–jet aircraft. The Senior Systems Engineer will support the identification of key technologies for use in future operating environments, and the derivation of overarching requirements for next–generation Electronic Warfare (EW) systems to provide next–generation mission capabilities in the areas of detection, identification, countermeasure, and communication. These systems will ultimately provide unrivalled mission effectiveness and platform survivability.

Whilst being an integral member of the Operational Analysis team, the Senior Systems Engineer will require strong technical and relationship management abilities to ensure the on–time delivery of fully compliant solutions.

What you will do

Define and implement threat–focused scenarios and/or models to investigate key technologies for inclusion in the overall system.
Liaise with sensor and communication technical specialist teams to define systems and sub–systems for modelling and simulation in key national facilities
Develop and operate operational analysis tools, processes and facilities, including but not limited to:
Modelling and simulation tools
Manual analysis
Support the development and delivery of engineering specifications, reports and presentations for delivery to customers and industry partners.
Travel within the UK to meet with our internal teams, customers and industry partners.

What we are looking for

You really must have:

Degree–level, or equivalent, qualification with proven Systems Engineering experience for complex electronic (preferably EW) systems.
An awareness of Operational Analysis, with a particular focus on the air environment.
An understanding airborne threat systems currently or likely to be operating in the short–, medium– and long–terms.
An ability to influence key teams in support of the design and representation of complex system in key national modelling and simulation facilities.
An understanding of the tools, methodologies and processes required to identify, define, articulate and record system level requirements.
Self–motivated with a strong aptitude for problem–solving and decision–making within projects involving design complexity and uncertainty.
Experience of stakeholder interaction and management, with customers and industrial partners.
Excellent written and verbal presentation ability.
Ability to obtain SC Clearance for UK–caveated programmes.

It would be nice if you had:

Knowledge and experience of developing and using MATLAB–based (or similar) modelling and simulation tools, as well as their use to influence design, integration, test and demonstration activities.
Experience of Agile working.
Understanding of RADAR, EO/IR, ESCM domain concepts and application of technology and processes.
Experience of operating in military environments, particularly those focused in the air domain
