Exciting opportunity within a £16m turnover, growing and profitable SME in West Yorkshire. You will be the ‘number 1 in finance’ from the outset – reporting to the MD.

You’ll enjoy a high degree of autonomy and ownership of all of the day-to-day financial reporting / financial management for a business which is winning an impressive range of new business on an ongoing basis.

The subsidiary is ultimately part of a large parent organisation and there is a small element of group reporting. However the business operates with a very high degree of independence / autonomy and the role would suit someone who enjoys the variety & hands on environment of an agile SME.

You’ll be someone confident in their technical accounting skills – able to produce stat accounts and manage year end audit. You need to be a firm hand on the tiller when it comes to delivering and presenting reliable numbers. You will also have commercial acumen and be able to provide business partnering to the senior management team / MD.

You will assess new contract and provide models / input to ensure new projects are profitable and feasible. This is a multi-site business and you will ideally have experience of a multi-site / multi-contract operation.

The remit includes managing the finance function (6 direct reports locally) and you will be someone who can coach and lead others with confidence and structure. You will enjoy being responsible for ensuring a detailed and meaningful management accounts pack is delivered on time and with a high degree of credibility.

The role has support from an approachable and credible MD who will really value your efforts and input.

You will need:
  • A professional qualification (ACCA / CIMA / ACA)
  • Experience as FC / HoF – within a business of £10-£50m turnover ideally).
  • A hands on approach coupled with an ability to bring out the best in others.
  • Experience of multi-site and multicurrency ideally (contract accounting would be an advantage).
  • Ability to work with non finance colleagues to assist in managing cost and controlling margins / profitability.
