Senior Business Partner – Workday Finance Systems
Reporting of the Role
This role reports to Head of Finance Systems & Insight ('HoFSI')
Overview of job
Global's Finance department are embarking on a progressive Finance Transformation Project to overhaul its entire Finance Systems network. As such, we are seeking a Senior Business Partner – Finance Systems to join the Finance Systems team.
You will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance, development and support of all Finance Systems such as Workday Financials and Adaptive Planning. You will lead 1–2 analysts working across configuration, business processes, security, reporting, budgeting & forecasting, testing and engagement.
As SBP – Finance Systems you will also lead and be responsible for a successful deployment of each bi–annual major release update and implement new modules and functionalities that add value to the Finance community and ultimately set Finance up for success.

Measures of success –
In the first few months, you would have
- Developed a knowledge of Global's Business, Teams and Departments
- Built up a knowledge of the to–be architecture including business units and cost centres and their respective hierarchies
- Understood the technical requirements associated with our Chart of Accounts structure, Account Posting Rules, Revenue and Spend Categories
- Worked through the integrations landscape and understood the touchpoints working in conjunction with the Integrations Analyst
- Got hands on with Business Processes being built across all functions such as; Financial Accounting, Accounts Payables/Receivables, Tax, FP&A and their security checkpoints
- Built good relationships with key partners and taken a lead on managing the team
- Worked cohesively with our Implementation Partner to better understand our Finance Systems build
Responsibilities of the role
- Manage all Finance Systems and be responsible for all BAU activities
- System administration, configuration and design of Workday Financials such as; consisting of the General Ledger, Business Assets, Supplier Accounts, Procurement, Projects
- Provide techno functional expertise and recommendations in assessing implementation of project objectives and data integrity can be improved. Gather information, evaluate requirements and solutions.
- Manage the Security Framework for all Finance Systems and continually tweak, improve and develop its functionality for the Finance community
- Build, design, maintain and develop business process across all of Workday Financials and functional areas
- Collaborate with users to assess business needs and translate those needs into effective streamline technical solutions that promote user adoptions
- Support the Finance community with Adaptive Planning configurations for Budgeting and Forecasting
- An ability to crunch calculated fields and build Workday matrix/composite reports for Core Finance
- Manage and provide support to end–users of the Workday platform through our ServiceNow Support portal, answering inquiries, resolving issues, and following through on any reported or unresolved issues ensuring a timely and reliable response
- Experience leading requirements gathering sessions and documenting outcome, including designing process flows and helping define test scripts.
- Work with External Auditors, end users and IT to ensure compliance. Develop auditing processes to ensure data integrity and system accuracy
- Be responsible for the bi–annual compulsory releases, implement new functionality and ensuring a successful delivery is always achieved through vigorous planning and testing of processes, configuration and integrations
- Work closely with the PRISM Analytics lead furthering the Workdays power of one concept
What you will need
The ideal candidate will be proactive and willing to develop and implement innovative solutions, capable of the following:
- Part of Full–Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
- Workday Financials Practical experience
- Workday training and or certifications
- Experience designing and implementing Workday solutions
- Experience leading requirements gathering sessions and documenting outcome, including designing process flows and helping define test scripts
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including ability to communicate effectively with associates to troubleshoot and address technical and process issues
- Able to both manage a team and be hands on
