Head of Electrical – Global Engineering Consultancy – High Speed 2

Excellent opportunity to work for an internationally acclaimed engineering consultancy operating on some of the largest Infrastructure (Rail, Highways, Utilities) projects in the UK including HS2.

Package: GBP60,000 – GBP65,000 Basic + Bonus + Package

Based: Central London

International Engineering consultancy is in a period of sustained growth after coming to the UK and Ireland on the back of continued success including HS2 and as such we are looking to continue developing their management team including the role of Head of Electrical, which would report to the Head of MEP (UK). This is viewed by the organisation as the technical interface between consultancy and delivery teams based in the UK and Europe.

This opportunity will see you perform a dual role including expertise as the technical hand's on detailed electrical design engineer working as part of a MEP design team. Alongside the responsibility of design management, focused working with the site teams, carrying out the stakeholder engagement/management and technical interface.

This role has a London and South–East focus undertaking lead design roles on major infrastructure projects.

You will need to come from an Rail, Infrastructure background. Used to the MEP work carried out on the larger infrastructure projects such as: –

Tunnelling ventilation
Emergency power and lighting
Lighting & control systems
Control rooms
Power supply from substation to project.You will be well versed in detailed design; however, you will be required to develop electrical designs for Rail, Infrastructure projects in line with building regulations across, British, European, Network Rail and London Underground Standards. In addition to;

Undertaking electrical design studies and calculations
Liaising with CAD/BIM Technicians
Overseeing Design Risk assessments
Conducting surveys
Attending multidisciplinary and Stakeholder meetings
Identifying customer requirements through a collaborative approach
Lead on developing design reports and specifications
Preparing technical notes and memos
Raising and responding RFIs & TQs
Carrying out technical evaluations and reviews of Electrical designs
Preparing bids and estimates
Preparing delivery plans and identifying resourcesHaving an Electrical background is key to support the Head of MEP (Mechanical bias) in the team.

Required Experience:

HNC / HND or Degree – Electrical Engineering (Design focused)
Experience in the Infrastructure / MEP sector – either Rail / Water / Tunneling / Utilities / Oil & Gas / Nuclear etc..
Significant experience in electrical engineering design on capital projects
Experience of contributing to the electrical design on multidisciplinary projects and knowledge of rail design assurance processes
Good knowledge and understanding of the requirements necessary to develop and progress projects through the early stages of the lifecycle – LUL, GRIP and RIBA
