Commercial Director
I am looking for a Commercial Director within the following industries
Construction / Defence / Aerospace / Oli & Gas / Automative / Rail
Purpose of the position
The Commercial Director, reporting into the Managing Director, will work across the business unit looking at our commercial strategy, leading the commercial team, working with their customers on complex projects and advising the business on all areas of commercial risk and how we can maximise opportunity. The ideal candidate will have come from a similar level role, worked within a complex matrix business with high–value complex contracts and influenced across a diverse stakeholder group. My client is looking for someone who is currently managing contracts between 45M–60M.
ACCOUNTABILITY
Responsibilities:
*
To ensure all business decisions are fully informed from a contractual and a Commercial standpoint and also meet our business objectives both now and in the future.
*
To highlight risks to the commercial success of the business, ensuring the business unit is constantly informed and using a variety of methods in highlighting this information.
*
To proactively advising on how to minimise risk exposure
*
To foresee commercial and contractual challenges and pro–actively resolve
*
Inspire and lead the commercial team, drive the capabilities within that team
*
Work with the business unit senior leadership team and customers to deal with any difficult or challenging contractual terms and agreements, always aiming to deliver a positive outcome for all those involved.
*
Work with customers on a variety of high profile bids, tenders, negotiations and contracts.
*
Assess, define and implement appropriate partnering / teaming agreements with 3rd parties
*
Ensure changes in contract requirements are recognised and captured through Contract change mechanics
*
To establish key commercial contacts and positive working relationship with Customers
*
To ensure the commercial and supply chain teams have a close working relationship and the flow down of key commercial terms to important suppliers
*
To work with supply chain and finance to optimise contract cash profile requirements
Tasks:
*
Lead on, advise and understand contractual and business risk, what risks we are exposing ourselves to as a business unit whilst we ensure we are maximising every opportunity.
*
To manage and lead the commercial team across the business unit. Looking at gaps in capability, opportunities to develop and continuous improvement across the function.
*
To develop, implement and review commercial processes and procedures.
*
Be a problem solver and solutions orientated. Able to take a broader view and not afraid to challenge the status quo.
Technical Competencies:
*
Working and influencing at board level in a complex matrix business setting.
*
Working on high profile bids and contracts with complex commercial terms across a variety of countries and territories.
*
Significant experience in delivering complex commercial contracts, negotiations and solutions.
CAPABILITY
Education:
*
Qualified to a Degree level or equivalent.
Experience:
*
Track record of working in increasingly senior roles within the commercial environment.
*
Working on complex commercial terms and contracts
*
Experience in contract and dispute negotiation
*
An in–depth knowledge both practically and strategically within the commercial setting of an innovative and complex business.
*
Influencing across all levels, able to positively challenge business decisions.
*
Able to focus on the bigger picture.
*
Inspiring, leading and managing a team.
*
Working across multiple stakeholders all with different goals and objectives to find common ground to ensure positive outcomes.
