Our client is a global provider of a cloud–based web platform to the veterinary industry. They currently support thousands of clinics and vets in their everyday activities are scaling the platform for their customers and users. Due to their continued growth we are delighted to be supporting them in the appointment of a Head of Engineering Development Manager to help lead the on–going development of the platform offering

Main Responsibilities

The Head of Development is responsible for all aspects of software development from technical solutions, to the delivery of quality software for your customers. This includes exemplarily leadership and oversight of software development with the Development Managers.

The role breaks down to 6 key areas of accountability:

Product Development
Processes and Change
Release & Incident Management
Quality
Technology and Architecture
People

Key Skills and Experience

The following key skills and experience are required:

5+ years of engineering experience and technical architecture using Java (or similar languages);
3+ years of team leading and/or management experience with teams up to 50 in size (department);
Managing managers and setting objectives around projects;
Experience scaling teams, products and cloud based (AWS, GCP, Azure) platforms with a deep understanding of architecture, design and technology. Has worked with an transformed legacy systems;
Commercial awareness, client facing and presentation skills (verbal and written);
Excellent understanding of software development and methodologies, developer operations best practices, continuous integration and version control.;
Excellent critical analysis and problem solving skills;
Positive, patient and persistent, inspires others and sets an example to follow.

Please note this is a remote working role with required travel to head office in Surrey as and when is required.
