We put GBP270 million into the regional economy and support thousands of jobs in the area. We're investing GBP260 million in our estate, including a major expansion of our city–centre campus at Eastside, providing students with an enviable range of facilities. Our staff and student community is defined by our core values, which outline who we are as a University and how we will work with each other. Our core values are Excellence, People focused, Partnership working and Fairness and integrity.
We are looking to appoint an Assistant Director IT for Technical Delivery and Information Security whose remit is to provide the information technology systems and services for students and staff. The person will develop, maintain, support and keep current the technical systems in use across the university to support the delivery of the required service levels. You will be responsible for the technical implementation and operation of the university's IT, planning system developments and operation over a three to five year cycle. The role involves leading and a high performing team of developers, engineers and analysts, ensuring skills and experience match the ongoing developments whilst balancing the 70–strong team's focus on multiple projects and day to day delivery.
You will be responsible for recruiting new talent required by the team in an environment where we measure ourselves against the university's equality and diversity strategy.
The role is also responsible for the information security of BCU technical systems documenting the level of risk the university is exposed to and ensure there is agreement on the level of risk that is acceptable. Strong partnership working is needed with leaders across the university to ensure we work together to operate safely and securely. You will take responsibility for determining the disaster recovery and business continuity plans for the university's IT systems and safely testing their good operation at regular intervals.
You will define appropriate out–of–hours support levels and procedures and manage resources to achieve the required service response and you will deliver against the defined incident and service request levels of performance for the IT managed systems. You will also be responsible for effective change management of university IT systems and maintain processes to ensure that technical change is undertaken at an appropriate pace without unmanaged risk to the good operation of the university.
A successful candidate will have:
