Dunbar Education is currently working with an Education Centre in Milton Keynes that provide care and education for children aged 13 to 18 who have been sentenced or remanded into custody. During their time, they attend education within their on–site facility as well as taking part in offending behaviour programmes designed to help them address the actions and attitudes that led them to custody. Their aim for all young people is to help them develop the skills they will need to thrive upon release.

Delivering subjects such as English, Maths, Physical Education, Employability Skills, Business Studies, Food Technology, Art, and Physical & Sports Education, we are looking for a qualified and experienced Head of English and Maths to join the centre and deliver high–quality lessons. As part of their Education Team, you will play a vital role in the rehabilitation and resettlement of the Children, through the provision of an effective education programme leading to nationally recognised qualifications.
This is a diverse role and can be difficult due to the nature of the Children you will be dealing with. You will need to be confident, assertive, and resilient, with plenty of life experience, common sense and a firm but fair approach.
As a resourceful and adaptable team player with effective communication and interpersonal skills, you will be required to hold a Post Graduate Certificate in Education qualification, along with experience in teaching English and Maths. Strong organisational skills, coupled with the ability to motivate, inspire, and bring out the best in others, along with a non–judgemental and open–minded attitude are essential. Experience of working with Children is desirable. You will be expected to undergo an enhanced DBS security clearance.
