Our client is currently looking for a Managing Director (Corporate Director) based in Bournemouth on a temporary basis.

The role is likely to last from 3 to 6 months and falls inside or IR35.

Role Purpose
To provide outstanding and effective leadership in the development, implementation, delivery, and continuous improvement to the regeneration strategy for the short– and long–term profitability and growth. Short–term objective will be to scope and successfully procure the most effective commercial vehicle for regeneration, within the required governance and legislation.

Key Accountabilities

Commercial – Act as the authority's lead officer for planning the regeneration strategy and development of the most appropriate regeneration vehicle to ensure the best possible services and outcomes for the people of Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole.
Governance – To ensure that all regeneration commissioning delivers safe and effective services, within the context of the governance framework and secure value for money in all areas of regeneration and development activity.Person Specification, Key Capabilities/Knowledge

Leadership – Able to develop, communicate and gain ownership for a clear vision and direction for the Directorate. Develop and sustain partnerships with external organisations including voluntary organisations and users of the services.
Corporate Management – Able to act and think strategically, to work corporately and to subjugate inappropriate divisive departmental and professional interests. Able to evaluate competing budgetary and service priorities and ensure that services are co–ordinated in a way which will achieve maximum effectiveness and value for money in accordance with political priorities.
Communication & Influence – Highly developed oral, written and presentational skills. Able to influence and negotiate effectively.
Change Management – Able to lead and manage organisational and cultural change. Enthusiastic and proactive about change.
Budget Management – Able to manage the Directorate within budget so as to achieve the targets set by Members and the Chief Executive.
Performance Management – An understanding of performance management techniques and an ability to develop, negotiate and extend challenging outcomes and goals. Able to make complex decisions based on facts.
Human Resource Management – Able to attract, develop and retain a highly motivated and professional workforce and to deal swiftly and competently with poor performance or unprofessional conduct.
Local Government – Understanding of the workings of local government, the current and future issues to be faced and the financial, legal and political context of public sector management. Understanding of the challenges posed by providing quality public services in a multi–cultural urban area.
Flexibility – Able to operate effectively within a generic structure and in new externally created bodies, acquire new knowledge, skills and mindsets and a commitment to learning.
Leadership – To be part of the Leadership Team, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, recognising that this role incorporates ownership, commitment and leadership responsibilities for delivery of the clients Strategies and Goals. Excellent Leadership of a multi–agency team from start–up to delivery in line with the desired values and behaviours
