Principal Ground Engineer / Project Manager Ref:

Castleford

My client is a busy ground investigation contractor who are looking, due to increased workload, for a Principal Ground Engineer.

This is a large and well established company who work on varied and interesting projects.

The successful candidate will report to the Project Director and Castleford Engineering Team Lead, and will be responsible for the ongoing project management of a long term rail ground investigation project.

Duties:

  • Developing and maintaining excellent customer relations with the Client and project staff
  • Managing and delivery the ongoing project by coordination of the team from initial works planning through to report delivery
  • Monitoring targets to measure project performance, and drive continuous improvement while delivering works in accordance with procedures and the project programme
  • Promoting culture of inclusion and support for all stakeholders, internal and external.
  • Driving the vision and health and safety culture of the client through decisive leadership
  • Willing to travel to site and client offices within the UK;

Key Deliverables

  • Continued project management of the ongoing contract
  • Delivery of high quality site works and reporting
  • Day to day management of the project team
  • Communication and relationship management with the Client
  • Promotion of a string Health & Safety culture

Desired experience

Ideally you will be Chartered, confident in managing projects and accustomed to leading teams on complex and changing work banks. An excellent understanding of ground investigation in the rail environment would be a distinct advantage.

Person specification:

You will have a broad range experience including;

  • Extensive ground investigation contracting
  • Undertaking ground investigation in the rail environment;
  • Proven background in ground investigation project management and client relationship management;
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills written/oral;
  • Strong positive attitude towards Health and Safety;
  • You will be a ground investigation contracting engineer with a proven track record in the successful technical delivery of projects;
  • Possess strong problem solving and inter–personal skills working closely and collaboratively with colleagues and clients in a multi–disciplinary environment;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write clear and concise instructions, reports and contractual communications;
  • Experience with relevant UK ground investigation standards and specifications, in particular those of Network Rail
  • You will have a valid UK Driving Licence;

Salary and benefits:

  • GBP32,000 – GBP43,000
