About us
The Access to Justice Foundation is a UK wide funder which supports the provision of free legal advice and representation to the people who need it the most. We are a fundraising foundation, reliant on the amounts we can raise for distribution for the greatest impact.
The role
We are looking for an exceptional individual with a legal background to join us as our Development Director. This is a crucial role within the Access to Justice Foundation with responsibility for overseeing our core funds income generation work.
In this highly varied role, you will provide leadership to the development team and oversight to the Foundation’s regional events and various fundraising activities. A visionary, you will be responsible for implementing and executing an annual development plan to meet our income generation goals, with particular focus on solicitors unclaimed accounts and pro bono costs.
In addition, you will develop and maintain excellent relationships across the legal community, including existing and potential supporters and represent the Access to Justice Foundation at networking events, external meetings and conferences.
About you
You will have a legal background and/or significant legal experience of the access to justice sector, with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills. A confident networker, you will be able to collaborate with networks to identify and build relationships with new donors, keeping abreast and maintaining a good understanding of the issues facing the access to justice sector.
An experienced People Manager, you will have experience of managing a small team with a strong commitment to working respectfully and sensitively with colleagues, promoting and demonstrating diversity, equity and inclusion in your work.
An excellent understanding of best practices and the ability to secure significant financial support is also essential. An applied understanding of basic fundraising principles and regulatory requirements is desirable.
We offer:
Family friendly and flexible working options
25 days holiday plus bank holidays
Membership of a pension scheme
Employee Assistance Prgramme and
Training opportunities.
We are a friendly, diverse, and inclusive team, with a professional and engaging work culture. We are committed to building an organisation that represents the communities we work with and welcome applications from people from all identities and backgrounds.
There is flexibility in where you choose to work, although there would be a requirement for occasional days to be worked from our office in London, once COVID restrictions are lifted. Precise days and work pattern will be agreed with the postholder.
