Exeter Students’ Guild is an exciting, student–led education charity that is dedicated to improving the University experience for Exeter students.  The Guild exists to represent and enhance the experiences of over 27,000 students at the University of Exeter.  We share a vision for the future where students are empowered to take their place in the world and make a positive difference.  We pursue our purpose through:

Influencing the Exeter student experience to ensure it is both a high quality, value for money experience for all students, and transforms their lives.
Collaborating with students to ensure there is a supportive, inclusive, empowering and enriching community at Exeter for every student.
Connecting Exeter student life to the wider world, ensuring that both whilst studying and beyond that Exeter students and graduates are networked and connected.

The Guild is currently going through an exciting period of change. We've just recruited a new CEO, launched a new strategic plan, and have successfully negotiated a significant increase to our funding following the transfer of commercial services to the University, reducing our financial exposure and securing the long–term stability of the Guild. We are now recruiting a Head of Organisational Development who can help us to drive new ways of working and excellent systems and processes across the Guild.

We are looking for someone who can work as part of our Senior Leadership Team to ensure a collaborative approach to delivering the Guild's strategy. You'll do this by streamlining processes and facilitating teamwork in remote environments, ensuring that core services like HR, IT, Health and Safety and Governance are a consideration in everything we do. You'll be a completer–finisher with a passion for project management and strong attention to detail, implementing Agile methodology values across the organisation and supporting our elected student–leaders and staff team in adopting them.

We look after students on two campuses in Exeter, and work with our partner Students’ Union in Cornwall. The Students’ Guild main office is located on the one of the most beautiful university campuses in the UK, and emerging from the Covid pandemic we are expecting to be working in new ways to enhance student experience both on campus and in the digital environment. Our approach is flexible, inclusive, and supportive, and we are looking for innovation and new ideas in the successful candidate.

As we work towards transforming our services for digital and physical delivery, we're looking for a new leadership team to shape an excellent experience for all students at Exeter. We look forward to receiving your application.

Inclusion is central to the Guild.  We approach our work collaboratively, empower our people and celebrate our uniqueness.  If you’re driven to empower others and achieve great things, you’ll fit right in. Our people are proud of who they are and value each other’s differences, and we are committed to creating a diverse community that is radically inclusive of race, gender, age, religion, identity and experience.

BAME Guaranteed Interview Scheme for Senior Roles

We recognise that applicants from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds may have experienced additional barriers when applying for new roles, especially at a senior level. Therefore, we are taking positive action to address an under–representation within our senior management team.

If you meet the minimum criteria for a senior level role (at least 80% of the 'essential' criteria in the person specification) and are from a BAME background, you'll be guaranteed an interview.

If you are a BAME applicant and would like to be considered under our guaranteed interview scheme, you must indicate this by selecting the relevant box on the Equality and Diversity Monitoring section within our application portal. If you do not select this box, your application will be considered alongside all other applications as normal.

Please note that the scheme guarantees an interview for senior level roles for BAME applicants who meet the minimum criteria. The final selection decision will be based on the most suitable candidate, regardless of background or protected characteristic.
