Help us make a difference as a Business Development Manager within our SME operation. This is a Depot based position covering our St Albans operational patch and you will be based between our Depot, on the road or at home.

A quick look at the role.

The Business Development Manager will manage, develop and maintain a pipeline of new business opportunities across the region in order to deliver profitable revenue growth for the SME division.

The role involves managing and influencing a range of day to day and strategic issues within the new business team and there will be scope to drive the return on sales through planned, objective management of their sales activities and process.

The Business Development Manager will also be instrumental in ensuring that Biffa stays 'ahead of the game' with respect to service offering, business model and operating methods.

To confirm, this role is 100% New Business and you will support those new customer for the initial integration period before this is then supported by our Customer Service team.

Working to achieve agreed revenue and profit targets based on a team related annual budget resulting in a profitable offering to customers and the wider business.
Identifying relevant opportunities through market research and cold calling in specific sectors.
Creating and presenting tailored commercial offerings to potential clients.
Actively and successfully managing the sales process, through lead generation, sales presentations, proposal solutions, negotiation, close, and handover to the operations team.
Managing and maintaining a pipeline to ensure all sales opportunities are captured accurately.
Responding to tenders and requests for information in a timely manner.
Working closely with existing operational and account management teams to deliver the ideal solution for the client at agreed profit levels for Biffa.Requirements

Here's what we require:

Experience of developing, managing and implementing new business services.
Experience in achieving clearly defined Key Performance Indicators.
Existing network of business contacts and strong understanding of how to conduct market research.
Minimum GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths, however A–Levels or a Degree certainly won't do any harm.
Computer literate – comfortable using business software and Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and PowerPoint.
Analytical and able to quickly assess issues and recommend and/or implement solutions.
Strong presentation, selling, negotiating and influential skills.
Articulate, confident and assertive.
Ability to work in partnership with internal departments, (potential) customers and other organisations.
Robust and resilient, able to absorb pressure and respond positively.
Experience of building and maintaining customer relationships.
Solid pragmatic approach to delivering to tight deadlines and targets.
Strong self motivator and target driven.
Ability to plan, organise and prioritise.
Ability to deal with conflict and negotiate / manage the appropriate outcome.
Ability to work with a minimum of supervision and on own initiative
The ability to communicate with conviction, plan with precision and, most importantly, play well with others.
Full current UK Car Driving licence.
Ability to travel without restriction with the occasional night away from home.Benefits
