Our client is a leading provider of insurances and related products & services in its chosen sector and has long–standing relationships with many of the sector's large retailers and independent specialists. Well–backed by specialist investor owners, the client recently re–organised into its current group structure to leverage common relationships and to take commercial advantage by offering complimentary products and services to the sector. Continuing to operate independent brands but working in partnership has allowed the group companies to harness the collaborative power of a close, cohesive working relationship. Their products hold 'Excellent' consumer ratings and they maintain a highly valued reputation as a supplier to their b2b clients. In recent years, the Group has made significant investments in integrated web–based systems and responsive technologies to deliver measurable service improvements for both b2b client and end user consumers.
Whilst the market sector has been severely affected by the impact of the Covid crisis, the Group is planning significant strategic investment in IT. Key to this strategy is the appointment of a new Group CIO / CTO. As CIO, you will be responsible for people, processes and technology – delivering the required improvements to the Group's fundamental IT infrastructure. As an outward–looking CTO, you will ensure the business can deliver the service, systems and technology required to develop market share in a mature, competitive market through the effective execution of the strategic IT development plan.

Package: Six Figure Salary Range (+Car, Bonus & Exec benefits)
Location: SE England (Group HQ, flexible on location)
Role Purpose:
To lead on all technical aspects and utilise all technological resources of the organisation for the purpose of future development, and profitable growth. Establish a technological vision for the organisation and execute the company's technological strategy underpinning the business strategy.
Key Deliverables:
* Work with and lead the current IT leadership team to create and own the future architectural transformation strategy, executing that strategy whilst ensuring the current environment delivers BAU
* Ensure the technology strategy and roadmap delivers now/next/future solutions in a rapidly changing and competitive landscape where our clients and their customers are changing their requirements
* Build an environment which enables dynamic operations and product design & fully scalable and secure infrastructure (SaaS platform, back office, workflow systems & infrastructure)
* To provide mentoring, guidance and constructive challenge to the current IT leadership team, developing IT talent and addressing capacity gaps
* Responsible for BC & DR in association with the COO
* Lead the tech organisation whilst maintaining the right team, right size and right skills
Candidate profile:
* Extensive experience in leading high value, complex change/transformation/restructuring programmes
* Extensive experience of running a cloud–based estate, understanding the intricacies of cost efficiencies, storage solutions and the principles behind DevOps, PaaS and microservices.
* Experience in Insurance or related Financial Services.
* Data data warehouse management, data lake implementations and relevant reporting
* C–level, natural communicator able to 'translate' business needs into IT–led reality
* Client–friendly, identifying how the Group can support clients via technology/data solutions
* Relentlessly focused on delivery, budgetary control and stakeholder engagement
* Evaluates new technology and makes recommendations on technological solutions
