Job Title: Deputy Chief Operations Officer (Deputy COO)
Job Type: Permanent
Location: South Yorkshire
Salary: Circa GBP80k
I am currently in the market seeking a Deputy Chief Operations Officer in the South Yorkshire area for a global manufacturer of workwear and safety wear. The role will require someone that is very analytically minded that can bring change management and process improvement experience from multi medium size businesses. Continuous improvement will be a very strong aspect of the role along with value stream mapping and standard minute values. Someone that comes from a textiles background and/or has experience implementing automation and managing from cradle to grave would be highly desirable. The key focus of the role will be act as the number two to the Chief Operations Officer in all aspects of manufacturing management and planning in conjunction with the Supply Chain team, work study of current operational activities and development of continuous improvement plans and implementation of the same.
Travel to other sites globally will be required as and when needed.
As the Deputy Chief Operations Officer, you will:
Work with the COO to identify, scope out and implement improvement initiatives within the global warehousing and logistics operations focusing on efficiency and process improvements.
Implement Lean Principles at every possible opportunity to drive and improve efficiency in all areas of operations and ensure that all of these principles are adopted by the global warehousing and logistical operations as well as the manufacturing operations.
Complete analysis on key operational areas
The Deputy COO will review, in conjunction with the management team, the current KPI measures and reports and identify where these can be adapted and improved to maximise improvement / process improvement opportunities and then manage these on a project–by–project basis within the UK facility and then into other operational sites.
Support the Chief Operations Officer on the delivery of key initiatives within the warehouse operations and ensure that agreed and scoped plans are implemented, managed, and followed up on
Manage projects internally and externally.
Assist the COO in the management of the fully owned manufacturing facilities in terms of manufacture management, efficiency, planning demands and capacity expansions.
Work with the COO to identify appropriate locations for future manufacturing sites as well as distribution operations.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
To become the Deputy Chief Operations Officer, you will need:
Proven warehouse management and logistics experience in a fast–paced B2B environment with an understanding of web–based ordering systems and processes
Experience in either a distribution or manufacturing environment to identify improvement opportunities and efficiency gains is essential.
Demonstrated experience of evaluating processes and systems and identifying improvement opportunities, including time and process measurement, and developing KPI's against these.
Degree qualified in a relevant discipline such as Manufacturing, Work Study or Textile Studies is desirable
Desirable:
Work study experience in a manufacturing environment would be highly desirable,
Come from a textiles background,
Experience of automated warehouse systems and/or implementing automation would be a distinct advantage.
Experience with Standard Minute Values
Live locally or be able to relocate.
