How do you fancy leading the commercial proposition of a GBP60 million pound business that delivers services, which keep our communities connected?

We're currently recruiting a Business Development Director – part of the senior team in the business, who will be at the heart of developing strategic partnerships and commercial services, generating revenue, improving commercial viability and helping the operation grow???so the importance of this role cannot be understated.

Speaking of "we"???

Stagecoach East provides almost 40 million passenger journeys every year, employing over 1,000 colleagues and operating over 350 vehicles from depots in Cambridge, Bedford, Fenstanton and Peterborough. Not only are we a highly successful business, we're also an integral part of the communities which we serve, connecting people through the operation over 20 million miles of routes every year across the eastern region.

So what will I be doing we hear you ask???

* You'll lead on the development of our commercial network and our service delivery strategy, driving revenue, profit and growth.

* Responsibility for managing the performance of the current network will sit with you, developing high performing planning and scheduling teams.

* You'll set the strategy and approach for marketing, publicity and customer service, focusing on external digital communications.

* And it goes without saying that stakeholder engagement is a huge part of the role – you'll lead on developing commercial relationships with Local Authorities, businesses and other organisations to maximise the value of those relationships to both us and the communities we serve.

There's a few things we'll need you to demonstrate???..

* Strong experience in a commercial of business development role within a transport setting – be that a road, rail, air or sea modality, and ideally within a large multi–site organisation.

* A proven track record of building, developing and maintaining relationships with key external stakeholders – with evidence of commercial impact.

* A wide understanding of the commercial agenda – scheduling, pricing, marketing, customer experience, tendering etc.

* And a passion to work collaboratively with colleagues to continue to drive profitable and sustainable growth within Stagecoach East.
