Associate Director – Fire

Capitec are looking to recruit an experienced and well–practiced Fire Engineer. You will complement and be working within a creative, innovative and self–motivated team of professional consultants. The role will involve interactive and collaborative working with colleagues throughout the wider multidisciplinary teams at IPSL.

Projects will be diverse, exciting and range from conceptual fire strategy development through to survey/assessment of existing cladding or compartmentation remedial works.

This role will be home based, with travel required, but can operate from either our Daresbury office in Cheshire, or from Bristol.

Associate Director – Fire Responsibilities:

The main areas of activity and commissions will relate to fire compliance in both; operation and design, protection and monitoring, supporting organisations in developing and maintaining robust and compliant fire design strategies and providing assurance for all aspects relating to fire safety management.

• Plan and direct fire engineering activities for your own projects.
• Conduct building and fire code reviews and analyses.
• Prepare and present technical reports and presentations.

Associate Director – Fire Requirements:

The successful candidate should be suitably qualified preferably with a Degree in Fire Engineering (registered with a relevant institution such as the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE)) and be Chartered Engineer status or working towards, preferably with 5–10 years' experience in a consultancy environment at a Senior Manager/Director level.

You will be required to work independently or form part of a project team on a range of different projects, typically supporting our Healthcare and Educational sector clients, throughout the procurement, operation and life–cycle of both privately financed and traditional capital funded projects.

• Chartered as well as a MIFireE
• You should be qualified and a practicing Authorising Engineer (Fire)
• Typically professionally qualified to IOSH standard, CMIOSH or equivalent
• Experience of assessing and implementing risk management systems within the built environment and refurbishments, facility management and commercial property sectors, including ISO management systems
• Knowledge and experience of auditing to legal standards, company standard or best practice, and certifications
• Considerable operational and design (including fire engineering approaches) experience in delivering fire strategies for construction projects across various building sectors
• Knowledge and experience in undertaking fire risk assessments, in varying environments
• Experience in occupational risk assessment, particularly within the corporate environment
• Proven track record of successful project & personnel management
• A track record in providing ideas for improving the fire safety industry
• You will require a full UK driving license as this role will involve some travel

Salary: up to GBP60k per annum, plus GBP5k car allowance
