Head of CAE – Chassis
Key Responsibilities & Tasks:
Lead the virtual vehicle development process in accordance with the Vehicle Development Programme and deploy the Target Cascade to Engineering Specification process for Vehicle Performance and Chassis systems delivery.
Develop, maintain, and advance the Vehicle Performance and Chassis simulation processes and procedures.
Complete management tasks required including team appraisals and development plans and lead recruitment activities.
Ensure a high level of documentation and reporting.
Lead research into simulation strategies/methodologies to ensure enhanced group simulation capabilities and efficiencies.
Investigate vehicle dynamics issues arising during development.
Lead model correlation activities including definition of test requirements, sensors, and data acquisition instrumentation.
Collaborate with the Chassis and Powertrain Control groups to create and develop control system algorithms in conjunction with SW & HW suppliers.
Work alongside the Powertrain Simulation Team in the development of integrated chassis and powertrain simulation models and frameworks.
Interact with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that simulation tools and models are aligned and ready for virtual vehicle development usage.Qualification & Experience:
Essential
Proven experience in Vehicle Performance Engineering within the Automotive/Motorsport industry.
Experience in Chassis Virtual Development process with CAE tools and Driver in the Loop (DiL) simulators.
Hands–on experience in modelling and integration of Chassis and Powertrain control systems for Full Vehicle analysis utilizing Real–Time and multi–disciplinary simulation tools & environments.
Excellent understanding of Vehicle Dynamics including objective testing processes.
Proven capability of data post–processing, analysis and optimization techniquesDesirable
Ability to cascade vehicle–level targets to engineering specification
Proven capability of studying and understanding K&C data and CAE correlation.
Proving grounds and data acquisition / post–processing ability.
Data–driven engineering approach and process–improvement focus
Comprehension of technical innovations and concept assessment
