The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides services at a 600 bedded General Hospital on the Countess of Chester Health Park, and a 70 bedded rehabilitation and intermediate Care Service at Ellesmere Port Hospital. We have an annual income of over GBP270 million and almost 4,000 dedicated staff providing a comprehensive range of high–quality medical services to more than 445,000 patients per year from an area covering Western Cheshire, Ellesmere Port, Neston, and North Wales.

We are committed to achieving continuous improvement in the safety and quality of all our patient services and our vision is to deliver NHS care locally that makes our staff and our community proud. We are a key partner in our health and care partnership locally and in the wider Cheshire and Merseyside region and we are increasingly seeking to play a greater role working with partners to transform public services through integration that meets our populations' needs. As we respond to the unprecedented impact of the COVID–19 pandemic, we recognise and value the significant resilience and commitment of our dedicated workforce and the importance of creating a culture in which they are both empowered and supported.

We are seeking to appoint a new Associate Director of Corporate Affairs who will be our Company Secretary in addition to a much wider portfolio leading the information governance, legal services and communications functions. This role will work closely with the Chief Executive, Chair and Board with responsibility for ensuring we have sound, integrated corporate governance policies, procedures and structures. You will ensure that we comply with our legal, constitutional and regulatory requirements in order to support the delivery of outstanding, integrated care to the people who use our services. The position requires independent judgement and the credibility to operate as a peer as well as advisor to the other directors attending the Board.

We are seeking an experienced corporate governance professional, comfortable in operating at Board level in a complex, regulated environment and a track record in embedding robust governance, assurance and risk management frameworks. With excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail, you will bring a positive influence to our Board at a critical time for the NHS. Demonstrating strong political acumen, you will quickly establish credibility and build proactive and productive relationships with stakeholders internally and externally. This is an excellent opportunity to use your energy, skills, and experience to make a lasting difference to the health and wellbeing of people we serve now and in the future.
