Chief Financial Officer

Elevation Senior Finance are the retained recruitment partner to a high growth SME organisation based in Leeds as they seek to appoint a Chief Financial Officer.

This owner managed business was established in 2010 and supplied products into the building/construction sector, and has been highly successful, experiencing exponential growth over recent years.

With strategically placed depots across the north of England and at a turnover of around GBP15million, the company has built an outstanding reputation based on providing its customers with market leading product availability and over–night, industry leading delivery times.
With ambitions to grow the business further and expand its geographical offering, my client has recently secured PE investment.

With that deal now confirmed and an exciting few years ahead for the company, the strategic decision has been made to bring in a Chief Financial Officer. The CFO will form a key part of the businesses board team with the primary responsibility for managing the investment, ensuring the requirements from the PE firm are met and delivering the reporting and analysis required to both satisfy the investors, and support the owners ensuring they meet their growth objectives.

The CFO will be a business partner and sounding board to the owners and play a significant role in the future growth and success of the business. In addition to operating as part of the board team, the CFO will have day to day responsibility for the 10 strong finance team. With an excellent and trusted Financial Controller in place, the role will be required to up–skill and further develop the busy finance team to support the company's growth, create strategic reports such as a detailed business plan and 5 year forecast and act as a mentor to the FC as he continues his development.

There is also an opportunity to contribute significantly from a commercial viewpoint, delivering on projects such as the selection and implementation of new IT systems, providing insight and analysis around potential new depots/locations, analysing potential acquisitions and working closely with the Sales Director and Managing Director to maximise sales performance and company profitability.

For this appointment, we are seeking an ambitious, driven and commercially focused Finance Director who is ready for their next challenge. Applicants must be qualified accountants with significant post qualification experience and be able to demonstrate a track record of delivering the above key accountabilities within a similar sized growing business. Experience working within a PE backed company is desired, however candidates who have operated to strict reporting deadlines for a larger parent or different ownership set up will be considered. My client is looking to bring in an individual, who in addition to having the technical ability, will complement the current management team and demonstrates a passion for the company and its success that mirrors that of the owners.
