UK Business Partner/Commercial Controller

Cambridgeshire (Flexible working)

Our private equity backed client is a pioneer in the harnessing of innovative technologies and is on an exciting international growth journey, scaling both organically and by acquisition . The company is well funded and committed to continual investment in new product development and enjoys a strong EBITDA. They are now looking to recruit a commercially focused UK business partner, reporting to the CFO but also working closely with the UK Managing Director partnering them as they oversee growth in international sales channels. The role is a true value creator and will suit an ambitious finance professional looking to gain exposure to PE and take a commercial finance lead in the business .

Responsibilities:

Responsible for the finance team and international agents you will support all finance related matters. This will include:
  • Business partner the MD and SLT to provide detailed insight to the business, improving the current management reporting pack including margin analysis, comparison to forecast and budget
  • Develop insights and analysis and ensure KPI reporting enables informed decision making
  • Preparation of annual budgets and preparation of monthly forecasts
  • Presentation of the monthly management pack to MD and Group leadership
  • Develop strong relationships with Key stakeholders, operations management and IT
  • Implement reporting timetable improvements
  • Develop and instil strong financial control discipline and a tight monthly reporting schedule.
  • Management of the finance team including AP and AR
  • Management of bank accounts, cash flow forecasts and cash reporting
  • Ensure completion of all month end processes to include revenue recognition, VAT, Intrastat US sales tax and R&D tax reporting
  • Provide high quality, consistent, timely reporting to group team for reporting to banks and private equity managers
Person specification
  • You will be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA or CIMA) and degree educated with a strong academic track record
  • The role will provide excellent opportunity for career development, with progression to CFO role a possibility in the longer term
  • You will have experience of management and a track record of value creation and driving improvements to EBITDA
  • Self-starter, self-motivated and able to lead and develop a team
  • Strong team player and able to multitask
  • Preferably experience within manufacturing
  • Excellent presentation, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excel skills essential and experience of improvements to ERP systems
