Project Manager, Commercial Construction Industry. Salary: up to GBP38,000 + vehicle + benefits including pension, life assurance, 22 days holiday + 8 days bank holiday and free parking.
The company: I am recruiting a Project Manager for Windowglass Ltd (Bristol, BS4), a well–established and expanding business that designs, manufactures and installs architectural window systems and curtain walling for the commercial construction industry.
The Role: The Project Manager (Site Supervisor, Contract Manager), Commercial Construction, will plan and project manage commercial window and curtain walling projects, taking responsibility for the full project life cycle, from design through to delivery, working on multiple projects at any one time. You will attend customer meetings (Architect, Main Contractor etc), support decisions on design, fixing sequences etc. coordinate installation crews and liaise with clients and internal staff (design, production, logistics, installation teams etc.) throughout the project.
The Person: This role might suit an experienced Project Manager, Site Supervisor or Contract Manager (Site Manager, Foreman etc.), an Estimator, Draughtsman or Technical Salesperson or an experienced Installer or Builder with management experience, looking to progress into project management. Experience of Windows or Curtain walling would be ideal, but any building trade would be relevant and transferable.
The successful Project Manager (Site Supervisor, Contract Manager), Commercial Construction, will have experience of commercial building sites, working in a fast paced, frequently changing and often pressurised environment. They will have customer service skills of the highest standards and the ability to avoid and resolve potential conflict with tact and diplomacy. Over 50% of the role is office based so the Project Manager will also be comfortable in an office environment, utilising technology to plan and coordinate multiple projects.
Project Manager (Site Supervisor, Contract Manager), Commercial Construction, Duties Include:
* Site visits and customer meetings with Main Contractors, Architects etc.
* Deal with contract and pre–production documentation
* Complete installation site surveys (schedule, access etc.)
* Coordinate the design process and delivery schedule, communicating between design, production, installation and the customer, resolving any issues that arise.
* Establish safe working practises, carry out risk assessments, implement H&S documentation (RAMS) and ensure their acceptance by customer.
* Requisition appropriate hired plant and efficiently monitor / off hiring of plant.
* Update and organise the Installations schedule, communicating with production and logistics to maintain required delivery dates.
* Appropriate site labour and communicate daily with Installation crews, obtaining progress reports and reporting to senior management to support project valuations.
* Ensure completion of project to agreed timescales and budget, obtaining sign off documentation to enable handover to the client.
* Make good any defects or snagging issues, pre– and post–handover.
Project Manager (Site Supervisor, Contract Manager), Commercial Construction, Experience Required:
* A good understanding of the Commercial Construction industry.
* An excellent communicator and with the ability to develop strong relationships with internal members of staff and external customers (Architects, Main Contractors etc), overseeing projects and ensuring the delivery of contracts as required.
* The ability to take ownership and working autonomously as necessary.
* The ability to read and work to commercial construction drawings.
* Office and I.T skills.
* A full driving license with willingness to travel (vehicle provided)
* Preferable but not essential – Health and Safety qualification (SMSTS or SSTS)
* Preferable but not essential – supervisory experience (ideally with a CSCS card)
* Preferable but not essential – some experience of Windows, Curtain Walling or Cladding and knowledge of building regulations, building details etc.
