The Department HFW has an IT Department of approximately 50 staff globally, located in London, Paris, Dubai, Hong Kong, Houston, Melbourne and Singapore. The IT team is undergoing a period of significant change and maturation very much aligned to the ambition of the firm, and this role is a key element in improving the performance and value derived from the applications supporting the legal practice and operations.

HFW operate a 24/7 support service, providing comprehensive training and develop innovative projects to suit business needs. Together, we are implementing a world-class IT infrastructure designed to assist our clients, lawyers and business services.

The Role Working within the Technology Delivery Team in the IT department to help support and enhance the current IntApp Intake, Conflicts and Integrate systems. This role requires that you manage all technical aspects of these systems.

You will be required to maintain IntApp Intake, Conflicts and Integrate (including upgrades), plan and build workflow solutions, and another other related projects that involve the systems.

The role requires a good background in technology, particularly around software development, maintenance, and system integration.

The role will work closely with the business owners of IntApp Intake and Conflicts, Risk & Compliance. The role may also need to engage with other stakeholders, e.g. Finance, Marketing and HR.

Duties and responsibilities

The incumbent will be expected to perform up to Level 4 of Programming/software development (PROG) and User experience design (HCEV) within the Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA). This includes:

• Designs, codes, verifies, tests, documents, amends and refactors complex programs/scripts and integration software services. • Contributes to selection of the software development approach for projects, selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches. • Applies agreed standards and tools, to achieve well-engineered outcomes. • Participates in reviews of own work and leads reviews of colleagues' work. • Designs and develop users' digital and off-line tasks, interaction and interfaces to meet agreed usability and accessibility requirements. • Translates concepts into outputs and prototypes and captures user feedback to improve designs. Specifies appropriate tools, methods and design patterns. • Evaluates alternative design options and recommends designs taking into account performance, usability and accessibility requirements. • Interprets and follows visual design and branding guidelines to create consistent and impactful user experience. Detailed responsibilities include: • Act as technical SME for the IntApp product suite (new business intake, conflicts, etc.) and suggest related improvements. • Work closely with the Technology Delivery Manager, Risk Team and the IT Business Analyst to effectively translate business needs into workable solutions at all stages of the project process, from envisioning to end product delivery. • Develop new processes and integrations within IntApp Integrate. • Redevelop the current APIs being used by Intakes from SOAP to REST. • Proactively monitor the performance and availability of these key systems. • Plan and implement updates and upgrades. • Troubleshoot problems and identify solutions. • Provide support and work on projects in the IntApp environment • Any other ad hoc duties as and when required.

Key skills and experience required • Knowledge of the IntApp suite of products. o Intake (essential) o Integrate (essential) o Conflicts (essential) o Walls (desirable) o Time (desirable) • Knowledge of legal applications i.e. Elite, Aderant, iManage etc. • Knowledge of SQL Server. • Knowledge of REST API service. • Experience of software development life cycle. • Experience of risk management workflow solutions for new business intake and conflicts desired. Ability to understand high level requirements and translate them into technical solutions. • Ability to produce high quality, modular, reusable code that incorporates current best practices. • Experience developing complex reports using tools such as SQL Reporting Services, Power BI or equivalents • Professional manner, with the ability to work under pressure and prioritise effectively. • Inquisitive and tenacious, with an ability to challenge constructively where and when appropriate. • Good understanding of IT concepts and terminology. • Excellent attention to detail. • Familiarity with legal IT systems would be beneficial. • Flexible with regard to working hours - normal office hours are between 9.30am and 5.30pm.
