We're looking for an experienced business partner to inspire change and end-to-end thinking across our retail business. If you have the level of engagement skills and accounting knowledge we need, we can offer you a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact and change the way we do business at the Co-op.

In this role, we'll look to you to support the business in implementing ways of working and embedding a new tool to encourage end-to-end thinking. You'll partner with colleagues across commercial, retail, and logistics, redefining current thought processes and embedding a more strategic approach to managing costs and increasing profitability.

What you'll do

• manage the data refresh of our cost to serve tool; working closely with a third-party supplier and colleagues across the business to make sure we drive the most value from it
• implement new ways of working across the business to embed cost to serve and profit metrics into day-to-day business decision-making
• act as a consultant to the business working with a wide range of teams across commercial, retail, and logistics; looking for opportunities to drive efficiencies and improve processes
• work with the business to encourage a more strategic way of thinking when it comes to saving on costs
• finance lead for cost to serve tool development; working closely with the data science team to support future in-house build
• use data to provide insight and tell a story and shape important business decisions

This role will suit people who have

• a finance qualification e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ATT, etc.
• experience of driving and delivering change and new ways of working
• strong analytical skills and a real ability to translate numbers and complex data sets into powerful insight
• strong Excel skills; if you've also worked with BI tools such as PowerBI or similar, this would be beneficial but not essential
• experience building strong and meaningful relationships and working cross-functionally
• the confidence to engage, challenge and influence people at all levels

Why Co-op?

Here you'll do work that matters. We're a commercial organisation with a purpose beyond profit, you'll have an opportunity to help us build a stronger Co-op and stronger communities. You'll also get a package that includes:

• competitive salary
• coaching, training and support to help you develop
• pension with up to 10% employer contributions
• annual incentive scheme
• 28 days holiday (rising to 32 in line with service)
• discounts on Co-op products and services

Building an inclusive work environment

We're actively building diverse teams and welcome applications from everyone. But simply having a diverse workforce is not enough. We aim to build an inclusive environment, where everyone can contribute their best work and develop to their full potential. We celebrate our differences and recognise the importance of teams reflecting the communities they serve.

We can make reasonable adjustments to our interview process according to your needs. And we offer a flexible working environment, so you can adjust your hours to suit your personal circumstances. You can find out more about Co-op people policies at colleagues.coop.co.uk.

As part of your application you'll need to complete an online assessment. It will take you around 12 minutes to complete this test.
