The Head of Finance role will take proactive responsibility for all financial processes, monitoring and reporting for Optyma. The role involves liaising with all departments across the Optyma business, customers, suppliers, external advisors and auditors and the wider Shareholders and Investors. The Head of Finance will support the Operational function of the business and be critical to the future financial planning and decisions and growth of the Company.

- Control of day-to-day financial operations of the Company ensuring the Senior Leadership Team are kept up to date with all relevant financial and performance information. This will include:
- Month end accounts preparation and reporting;
- Year-end statutory and financial reporting under UK GAAP;
- Provision of all specific and ad hoc financial reporting as required by the business;
- Establishing, review, ensure adherence and reporting on the budgets for each department, sales, purchases and overheads;
- Work-in progress controls and reporting;
- Maintenance of the fixed asset register;
- Maintain a cash flow/forecast;
- Credit control management to agreed targets
- Oversee and manage payroll; and
- Responsibility for operational taxes – including VAT, CIS, PAYE
- Ensure Optyma's financial practices are in line with statutory regulations, legislation and group policies. Update and implement financial policies and procedures, maintaining a policy manual for the finance department. Ensure all internal finance processes are robust and scalable and financial governance (internal/external) is adhered to.
- In conjunction with the MD, develop and support the execution of a strategic financial plan for Optyma including defining strategic priorities, KPIs for the business and key initiatives to scale the business. Conduct analysis of financial risks and benefits on business initiatives.
- Supervise the financial assistants and other employees in the facilitation of day-to-day operations, including tracking financial data, invoicing, payroll, etc. Establish and implement a training program for new finance employees and ensure that appropriate ongoing training is provided to develop the team.
- Work closely with the Operations teams to support them with the pricing of project work and the onward monitoring of project performance.
- Professional accounting qualification – ideally CIMA (Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting) or equivalent as a minimum
- 6+ years of accounting experience working in a commercial role.
- Experienced in the use of Sage Accounting – ideally currently using Sage.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal with the ability to be able to explain complex financial information in a clear way to colleagues.
- Superior attention to detail.
- A proven track record of people management experience to ensure maximum productivity.
- The ability to balance the long-term objectives of the business with the day-to-day demands of a busy finance department.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis of data.
- A high level of integrity and dependability.
- A good level of IT system experience, including Outlook, Word and Excel as a minimum.
