HR Business Partner

Background

Government Services is delivering and transforming technology-enabled business services, including the operation of large, complex contracts.

The sector comprises Capita Fire and Rescue, a business unit which began the delivery of the Defence Fire and Rescue Project (DFRP) in 2019 - a first generation outsource of components of the MOD's Defence Fire and Rescue capability.

Project Selborne is a transformational training programme with a strategic goal of modernising Royal Navy training to deliver better trained sailors to the front line quicker. The project will bring together many Legacy contracts and in-house service provision into a single coherent training delivery mechanism with an initial value of circa GBP1 billion for the delivery of Naval Service Training across Royal Navy UK establishments.

The Role

The role will join a highly successful and collaborative HR team. This is an exciting time to join the team and deliver commercial and pragmatic people solutions aligned to the Group's core values and Divisional priorities.

Key Activities

  • Promote a proactive HR business partner approach, adding value to the business by adopting a commercial approach, working with, and through, internal and external providers of people-related services, to support the Lead HRBP deliver across the end to end people agenda (for example attraction and retention, talent management, employee engagement, people analytics, reward and recognition, management development)
  • Be the HR lead on business transformation projects, supporting trade union relationships or legal matters
  • Supporting on procurement/acquisitions/disposals as required, working closely with the Lead HRBP and Strategic Transactions team to ensure commercially focussed solutions are presented and smooth transition of projects from bid to go live' and beyond.
  • Use business MI and data effectively to provide insight to the people agenda and inform decision making.
  • Ensure that the Group's core values are reflected and promoted throughout all people activity in the business unit

Personal Qualities

  • A solid HR generalist, having worked in a complex, commercial and risk based environment
  • Ability to develop business relationships quickly, thus establishing credibility to enable constructive challenge of senior leader thinking, deploying influencing skills and techniques as appropriate
  • Has an accountable mindset and the confidence to be decisive, demonstrating problem solving ability and pragmatism in decision making, where appropriate using data or financials to inform thinking
  • Has an enquiring mind, naturally seeking innovative ways to best support the business in achieving its goals
  • Technically competent, with the ability to apply pragmatism and commerciality to the HR environment

To be successful in your application you will need to demonstrate experience in HR Business Partnering and comfortable working at both an operational and strategic level. You have change management experience and would comfortable leading transformation and change programmes. You are an excellent communicator and you are driven by delivering an exceptional level of service to stakeholders at all levels, internally and externally.
