MANAGING DIRECTOR – UK – EXCELLENT PACKAGE WITH LEADING NATIONAL BUSINESS

Our client is currently recruiting for a Managing Director to join a multi–site, GBP35m turnover, B2B business operating on a national basis in a highly competitive industrial sector.

As Managing Director your role will be to head up a key strategic division within the group of businesses operated by our client. With full P&L responsibility, you will lead the division to deliver outstanding operational performance alongside very ambitious and fast–paced business growth, whilst leveraging the relationship with other divisions to achieve overall company objectives.

Our client has a strong change agenda and your role will be to lead the business change, transforming the division from an industrial/mechanical business, to one which is sales and service lead. A key part of this change will be to lead all colleagues through the journey, ensuring that they understand the need for change and feel part of the future business vision.

Key responsibilities:

Develop and execute business strategies to achieve short and long–term objectives for the division, across sales volume, margin and costs
Create a robust sales strategy to drive the key performance indicators for the division
Working alongside the rest of the senior management team, support the delivery of the wider business growth plans outside of the division
Manage the business with a hands–on approach, building a strong understanding of the day to day depot operations
Build effective teams and manage the overall recruitment strategy for the division, with a focus on attracting talent into the business and raising the calibre of future colleagues
Take responsibility for the health and safety of colleagues
Build strong supplier relationships and develop a clear supplier strategy
Take ownership for key customer relationships
Experience:

A successful track record of operating at a similar level within industrial and B2B multi–site environments
Demonstratable experience of developing and implementing a fast growth sales strategy
Highly numerate, with analytical critical thinking and the ability to interpret and utilise financial and business data to make decisions
Proven strategic leadership capability, with demonstrable experience of working in a fast–paced environment undergoing substantial and rapid change
A highly experienced people leader who involves and empowers others
Ability to communicate with impact and clarity; building effective and supportive working relationships to deliver business results
