My London-based heavy industry PLC client is seeking a Head of External Reporting to join its well-regarded finance function on a permanent basis. Owing to a recent promotion and following a period of interim cover, an ambitious and technically strong senior finance professional is sought to deliver on all external reporting requirements as the business continues to grow. This includes owning technical accounting policy and providing guidance for the Group, liaising with the Group’s auditors, and working closely with the commercial teams to provide technical accounting insight whilst being viewed as an expert across the business in IFRS and policy.
Candidates will almost certainly have begun their career in audit, likely in a Big 4 environment and will have 8-10+ years’ PQE working in a relevant role. Applicants must be able to demonstrate experience of preparing a set of PLC group accounts (likely FTSE250 size or larger), in addition to a keen interest in technical accounting changes and the application thereof.
The organisation has weather the COVID storm and is going from strength to strength. Finance is increasingly viewed as an integrated, value-add function and the successful candidate will be expected to continue the good work done by his/her predecessor in terms of raising the profile of the external reporting team. Finance is renowned for promoting from within and opportunities to develop a more commercial skill set will present themselves (at the very least on a project basis). The Director of Group Finance, to whom this role reports, will consider a trajectory hire or a more proven entity and the remuneration offered will reflect the level of experience that a candidate brings to the table. Additional benefits include a car allowance, generous bonus, share incentives and pension, healthcare etc.
