Business Analyst
Role Description
As a Business Analyst you'll operate throughout the life cycle of change projects, provide SME knowledge and work within the SD programme portfolio. This position is a key role in providing analytical techniques, requirements management and modelling expertise within the client organisation. You'll work on multiple projects & programmes (concurrently) and through the entire project life cycle of a project from initial project feasibility, through design and delivery through to Project completion.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Leading or participating business analysis activities in multiple projects by completing and updating project documentation; managing project scope; adjusting schedules when necessary; determining daily priorities; ensuring efficient and on-time delivery of project tasks and milestones; following proper escalation paths; and managing customer and supplier relationships
- Identifying, creating and facilitating process modelling and process design during the solution delivery process where appropriate by conducting business and systems process analysis at a complex level in a standalone expert capacity
- Ensuring smooth transition from requirements to design and be involved in solution definition in alignment with the business objectives
- Managing the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders; identifying business needs; determining and carrying out necessary processes and practices; monitoring progress and results; recognizing and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; and adapting to competing demands
- Contributing to business case and feasibility study and transitioning the output to requirements
- Providing project level analysis - producing required project analysis documentation (business requirements, scope Matrix, use cases, sequence diagrams, future state proposals, etc.)
- Collaborating closely with fulfilling teams eg developers to implement the requirements, provide necessary guidance to testers during QA process
- Creating all documentation at the correct level of detail & standard to endure future phases of each project is correctly directed to deliver fit for purpose solutions ie analysis documents are used by technical teams from which to commence solution design work, test teams use both tech design & BA requirements docs to test from
Experience:
- Experience in Utilities business or equivalent
- Proven experience of business analysis
- Practical application of expertise and experience of working on large scale projects as well as handling day-to-day operational requests from the business - previous experience of leading business analysis activities across change programmes, projects, nonstandard requests - valued from GBP30K to GBP20m (at least 3 years). The BA will be involved in projects of all sizes and financial scales.
- Experience of coaching and development of business analysts - with measurable capability improvements as outcomes.
- Experience of working within a programme/project management delivery framework
- Experience of deploying & employing a broad and diverse range of business analysis best practices, methodologies and tools including complex business modelling and customer scenario driven analysis.
- Good understanding and experience of BPMN2, other BA tools and techniques
- Experience of working in both waterfall and agile environment
- Demonstrable knowledge, capability, skills and experience of Business Analysis processes and procedures including business requirements elicitation, processing mapping, analysis and critical thinking and workshop facilitation
- Detailed understanding of project and program management principles including various methods and techniques,
- Experience of supporting Senior Management Teams in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the business
- Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Excellent organizational skills
- Self-starter able to work with ambiguity
